On Monday, May 24, Mr. Stamide’s Pragmatic Learning Classroom (PLC) students got to test out a new hobby- goat yoga. They got to experience baby goat yoga here on the front lawn of NHS.

Earlier this year, one of Mr. Stamide’s senior students, Melanie Lirette, mentioned to Mrs. Derrane that she’d like to try out goat yoga. Mrs. Derrane got in touch with Mrs. Orlinski who has been going to goat yoga for years at Chip-Inn farm in Bedford, MA.  Mrs. Orlinski contacted farmer Sandy Couvve, and helped arrange to bring the goats to the front lawn of NHS for the students to try it out.  It led to a lot of attraction, especially from the staff members who had to try it and see for themselves...

Ms. Cohn, Wellness teacher, and certified yoga teacher was asked to lead the class. “It warms my heart to see the kids relieve their stress," she said, “especially this age group.”

Although Ms. Cohn is certified to teach multiple styles of yoga, she said that “Goat yoga is one of my top 3 favorite styles of yoga...It adds another dimension to yoga.”

The PLC students were excited to try goat yoga. “I was very excited to do it, but a little nervous,” said Josef Grant, a sophomore PLC student. But he says he would “definitely do it again.”

Melanie Lirette, who was the first to mention she wanted to try goat yoga, wanted to try it because “it sounded interesting” and it was something she had never tried before.  She said she feels that “goat yoga is a really great and exciting experience for everyone. I would definitely do it again.”

Mason O'Neil Butters, a freshman PLC student, was also really excited. “I mean, they are goats. This is a new experience that does not happen a lot.”
