Town Square Diner: Still good in its old age

Norwood’s Town Square Diner continues to serve delicious breakfast classics after being open for over 10 years.

Town Square Diner is located at 164 Nahatan St, Norwood, right across the street from the Norwood Civic Center.

The outside of the restaurant resembles a 50’s diner, displaying bright blue and red accents on the shining silver exterior. The inside is heavily decorated with posters and signs with a retro feel.

We went during lunchtime around noon, and there were only a few other people there. Seating is limited, so we urge you to be mindful about how many people you bring. We sat in the first booth on the left-hand side, and the seat moved when we sat down leaving us surprised.

The staff was really polite for the most part but seemed slightly annoyed when we ordered a new drink after accidentally ordering tomato juice.

On the menu, there is a wide variety of eggs, toast, wraps, and burgers you can order.

For our meals, we ordered french toast with sausage on the side as well as two sunny side up eggs which came with home fries and a toasted english muffin, and we asked for a side of bacon.

The french toast was better than imagined. It was cooked just enough without being overdone. It came with a mountain of butter, which seemed wasteful. The sausage was good, nothing exceptional. The overall meal itself was good, without any issues such as taste or presentation.

The sunny-side-up eggs were cooked wonderfully with the yolk just how we like it. The home fries were quite dry but paired with ketchup they made up for it, and the english muffin was a little bit dry noticing the lack of butter applied but it was still okay. Lastly, when we first saw the bacon we thought that it looked quite savory and tasty but when we picked it up all three pieces stuck together and were hard to separate. Overall, the taste was good but the presentation was lacking.

Before you enter this restaurant we advise you to visit an ATM and get some cash. This restaurant is cash only and very reasonably priced with prices ranging from $1 to $9.75. In total for our meals, we spent $28.36.

We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes classic brunch dishes and isn’t looking to spend a fortune. We rate this restaurant a 9/10, so when you’re looking for a nice and groovy place to eat today we suggest the Town Square Diner!
