Abstract
The major asset of the Rorschach in clinical assessment is the personal picture of the individual that is derived from its yield when the findings are woven together by the conscientious interpreter in a manner that highlights both strengths and weakness. But even when the picture is skillfully developed, it is often marked by over generalizations because the test itself remains incomplete. To date, research concerning how the test works is far too limited. Similarly, additional research is needed concerning numerous variables that have already been demonstrated as related to various features of personality. In addition, a high priority should be assigned to the future Rorschach research that studies characteristics of people for which the current Rorschach yield appears to offer little or no data, especially positive characteristics, such as affectionate, considerate, optimistic, trustworthy, and so on. The future use of the Rorschach seems closely tied to the future of personality assessment and whether personality assessment will strongly advocate a focus on individuality. But even if that occurs, it is critically important that the matter of Rorschach training be addressed realistically so that those who use the test are truly competent in the understanding of the test and its application.

A grande vantagem do Rorschach na avaliação clínica é o quadro pessoal do indivíduo que se extrai do protocolo, quando os dados são entretecidos pelo intérprete consciencioso de maneira que realça as forças e as fraquezas. Mas, mesmo que o quadro seja habilmente construído, terá muitas vezes a marca da generalização excessiva, porque o próprio teste continua incompleto. Até hoje, a investigação relativa ao modo como funciona o teste é muito limitada. De igual modo, é necessária mais investigação referente às numerosas variáveis que já se demonstrou estarem relacionadas com diversos aspectos da personalidade. Acresce que deverá considerar-se de elevada prioridade a investigação do Rorschach que estude aquelas características das pessoas, para as quais a produção corrente do Rorschach parece proporcionar poucos ou nenhuns dados, em especial características positivas como afectuoso, cortês, optimista, íntegro, e outras. O futuro uso do Rorschach parece achar-se estreitamente ligado ao futuro da avaliação da personalidade e a se a avaliação da personalidade vier a defender a centração na individualidade. Mas, mesmo que isso aconteça, será criticamente importante que a questão da aprendizagem e prática do Rorschach seja encarada de forma realista, de modo que os seus utilizadores sejam efectivamente competentes na compreensão do teste e sua aplicação.
