Resumo
Depois de apresentar criticamente os diferentes tipos de perguntas que se podem pôr acerca do comportamento, sugere-se a existência de três tipos de perspectiva para o estudo do comportamento (causal, adaptacional e histórica) os quais se podem considerar em diferentes níveis (individual, grupal, populacional). Cada um desses tipos se pode apresentar de modos diferentes (diferenças na natureza das variáveis estudadas e das variáveis explicativas e na escala de tempo utilizada) consoante o nível em que o investigador se coloca. Estes problemas são considerados do ponto de vista do investigador e não do epistemólogo.
Abstract
The different kinds of question that can be asked about behaviour are critically considered. It is concluded that there are three kinds of approach to the study of behaviour (causal, adaptational and historical) and that each kind of approach can be found at different levels (individual, grupal, populational). These approaches can vary (in the nature of the studied and of the explanatory variables and in the time scale used) according to the level considered. These questions are delt with from the standpoint of the researcher rather from that of the epistemologist.
