After being captured on tape hitting a lady in the face while in handcuffs, a Colorado police officer was terminated. Russell Maranto, a former Loveland police officer, 28, hit Angelia Hall, 59, in the mouth as she was being detained at a medical facility's emergency department.

The video shows Hall cursing and yelling at the officers and nurses present as she sits in an exam chair, growing increasingly irate and irritated. However, Maranto only reacted by slapping her when she spit at him. Maranto was pushed away from Hall by a different officer who entered the room.

Hall is outraged after being attacked and requests to see a video of what happened because she was unable to protect herself with her hands behind her back. In a statement released on Friday, Loveland Police Chief Tim Doran gave his justification for terminating the officer, noting the use of unwarranted force.

"I am sharing this video in the spirit of transparency and with a promise to hold my team and law-breaking citizens accountable for their actions," stated Doran. The chief emphasised the value of watching the entire occurrence and requested the public to watch the complete 90-minute body camera footage of the incident.

The Larimer County Sheriff's Office looked into the event, but no charges have been brought against Maranto by the district attorney's office as of yet. Maranto was dismissed from the Loveland Police Department three days after the event on May 20 as a result of the chief's prompt action.

Initial reports of Hall swerving in and out of traffic and acting erratically prompted officers to arrive. She was taken into police protective custody and sent to a nearby hospital for evaluation. Due to her behaviour towards the terminated officer, Hall has been charged with third-degree assault.
