Authorities have detained a Columbus man suspected of fatally shooting a woman following a dispute on the Southeast side earlier this week. According to the Columbus Police Division, officers from the U.S. Marshals Task Force peacefully detained Miles Gibson, 28, of the Southeast Side on Thursday afternoon.

Around 12:45 pm on Monday, the woman was discovered shot at an apartment block on Refugee Road's southeast side. Before they heard a single shot, witnesses reportedly heard Gibson and Cowans bickering.

Cowans sprinted into the apartment block and yelled for assistance. Police reported that they discovered her in the 3300 block of Brooke Colony Drive. She was taken to Mount Carmel East Hospital right after, but at 3:02 pm on Monday, she passed away from her wounds.

Gibson was charged with murder Monday night, and an arrest warrant was then issued.
