After abandoning her three dogs inside a car in the sweltering heat of the Sunshine State, a Florida lady was taken into custody and charged with animal cruelty. Then Tammy Garceau, 54, moved the remains of two of her dogs to a canal, where an alligator most likely devoured them, according to the investigators.

According to a probable cause arrest complaint, Garceau reported the three dogs she was watching for a friend were stolen on Saturday, August 12, and Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a property in Lake Worth.Garceau is accused of three counts each of animal cruelty, illegal confinement or abandonment of an animal, and illegal disposal of an animal that has already died. Records show that after being hauled to jail, she was freed on Sunday after posting a $9,000 bond.

Her absurd tale, however, almost instantly collapsed. According to the affidavit, on August 8, a neighbor from across the street saw the three dogs inside a car for a long amount of time. In order to try to cool the dogs off, Garceau took them out of the car and hosed them down, according to the neighbor, who was present.

The deputies gathered the neighbor's video recording of the incident. When confronted with this information, Garceau acknowledged leaving the dogs in the car on purpose because she was opposed to bringing them inside her home, according to the affidavit. Deputies noted that the day's high temperature was 92 degrees outside, adding that even if the air conditioning had been on, a car would have been much hotter.

On Sunday, August 6, Corey Vaughn Dacres was taken into custody on suspicion of severe animal cruelty after it was found that he had 'intentionally' drowned a pet dog. The Pembroke Pines Police Department (PPPD) made the claim in an email response to Newsweek.After killing the pit bull terrier, the 25-year-old man returned home and told his family the horrifying news. His family then desperately called the police for assistance.
