A constable was allegedly asked to lie by the main investigator in the YNW Melly double murder case, and the rapper's defence team accused the prosecutor of concealing that evidence. According to The Associated Press, state assistant attorney Kristine Bradley for Broward County has been dismissed from the prominent case. The 24-year-old rapper, whose real name is Jamell Demons, was scheduled to undergo jury selection this week.

On who will succeed Bradley, no choice has been made. On Tuesday, that decision might be made. After Melly's attorneys sought the judge to dismiss the Broward State Attorney's Office from the case, Bradley was fired. As previously reported by Law&Crime, Jamie King, Demons' mother, and Miramar Police Department Detective Mark Moretti were in a conference room when Assistant State Attorney Michelle Boutrous gave testimony at a pretrial hearing on October 6.

According to reports, Moretti wanted to take King's phone as part of the inquiry into witness fraud. Both Christopher "YNW Juvy" Thomas Jr. and Anthony "YNW Sakchaser" Williams were pronounced dead after receiving numerous gunshot wounds. In Fort Lauderdale, Henry claimed to have just left a recording studio with Williams and Thomas when a car drew up and started firing. Williams and Thomas were struck despite Henry's claim that he dove to avoid being hit.

Surveillance footage revealed Melly, Henry, Williams, and Thomas present in Henry's car at the time Henry claimed the shooting occurred as police investigated. Detectives came to the conclusion that the gang was present on the night of the crime and that the victims were shot inside the car after consulting phone records and blood spatter evidence.In February 2019, police detained Melly on two counts of first-degree murder. In March 2019, he entered a not guilty plea.
