The toddler was heard saying to the Clark County emergency dispatcher, "My stepdad just killed my mom," according to the News & Tribune.Lewis' defense lawyer reportedly testified that Lewis carried the gun on him because he intended to kill himself after learning that his wife sought a divorce.

He continued by claiming that Elizabeth Bennett was shot while attempting to take the gun away from her husband.According to reports, Clark County Prosecutor Jeremy Mull reportedly responded, "I considered that to be an insult to this family," in reference to the defense's theory. "Mr. Lewis tried to make this trial about how Lizzie had killed herself by fumbling for the gun or provoking him," said the witness.On November 1, Lewis is expected to show up for his sentencing hearing.
