Grace Kumar Wiki - Grace Kumar Biography

The family of a 19-year-old university student who was fatally stabbed early on Tuesday morning in Nottingham is "in bits" after the athlete was killed in a shooting spree throughout the city with a fellow student and a star hockey player for England. The maternal grandparents of Barnaby Webber, Phil and Jenny Robson, who came from their home outside Exeter, Devon, to Somerset last night, said: "We are still unsure what has gone on at the moment." As you can expect, Barnaby's parents are in shambles, but they are currently being cared for by officers from Nottinghamshire Police. We have been instructed not to comment until we have further information. We might be able to say more in a day or two, but right now we cannot.

Before additional family members with flowers arrived at the family home, Barnaby's grieving father, David, 51, would only respond that it "wasn't a good time." It's thought that Mr. Webber, the director of an IT business, called one of his son's Nottingham roommates to let them know about the catastrophe. He and Grace Kumar, a 19-year-old hockey player for England's under-18 team, were killed at around 4 in the morning just five minutes' walk from their Ilkeston Road home. Commendations for the 19-year-old university freshmen have started to flow in; one buddy said that Barnaby would "always be loved."

She went to an independent school in Bancroft, which is flying its flag at half-mast as a result of the horrific event, and was England's top goal scorer in her age group for the 2018–19 season, according to school newsletters. She kept playing when she was in college, aiding the Surbiton girls' first team to triumphs in prestigious UK leagues. She was also regarded as a gifted cricket player. The bereaved family of Grace declined to comment last night from their £2 million north-east London house. According to The Sun, her father is reportedly the heroic psychiatrist Dr. Sanjoy Kumar, who in 2009 intervened to save the lives of three teens who had been stabbed in a gang attack close to his office.

Before emergency personnel arrived, he assisted in moving the 15. 16. and 17. year old teenagers to a temporary trauma room. Michael Vaughan, a former captain of the England cricket team, paid homage to Mr. Webber and called him a "young cricketer gone far too soon." The cricketer and rugby player attended the Taunton School in his native Somerset, which costs £7,890 a term. On Tuesday, family members gathered there to provide support to one another. On Instagram, a friend of Mr. Webber posted a tribute to him along with a black and white photo. 'RIP Barney,' she penned. You have a particular place in my heart and are always adored xx'.

There are no words to describe what has happened to you and how much you will be missed, a second person said. "You were the light to all my gloom and helped put a smile on my face when no one else could. "I'm so glad we got to share one last dance and laugh, which will always be in my heart and never forgotten, during the last few hours of your life." Of all of them, you had the purest heart." Without you, I will be lost and will always feel a hole in my heart. This still feels false, and I'll be watching for you to enter that door forever. Everyone in your family and friends cherished you, and we are all really happy to have had the opportunity to know you.

'My friend was his housemate,' a another student told the Times. They were more like family because they were so close. She told me this morning about Barney. After learning the news, she returned home. She has been terribly hit. A young lady who lived in the same resident halls remarked, "Barnaby was a buddy of mine. Like all of us, he was simply returning home on foot from a club when everything went wrong. They were stabbed by an unknown man five minutes from their home. Only a month prior, Barnaby had returned from Nottingham to play cricket for a nearby club, Bishops Hull.

He had also played for them in an indoor league, and on June 4 of this year, he was recognised as the game's best player. He was a skilled hockey player, according to the Taunton School newsletters. He had previously celebrated winning the county championships for under-14s in 2018, according to The Sun. Taunton School had previously chosen the 19-year-old, who also played cricket for Nottingham University, to appear in ITV West Country's coverage of the region's GCSE results in 2020. Tuesday night, Barnaby's cricket team, Bishops Hull Cricket Club, issued a statement that read: "Today we learned of the death of our dear friend and teammate, Barnaby Webber."

"On June 13, 2023, while returning home with a friend after a night out, Barney was attacked early in the morning and lost his life." A important member of our club since joining in 2021, "Webbs" has had a significant impact in such a short period of time. His legacy will endure thanks to his more than 30 games played for the club, 622 runs scored, and 29 wickets taken. "As a club, we would want to extend an invitation to family, friends, club members, and locals who desire to express their condolences and place flowers at the club. TA1 5EB.' "Rest in Peace, Barney Boy," a teammate named Jack Wall later added. I'm really upset that you were taken away so young.

It has been a joy for Bishops Hull Cricket Club to share the wicket with you. You will always be remembered, buddy. 'I genuinely can't believe what has happened today, we had so many good laughs on and off the pitch,' wrote Dan Chanter alongside a photo of Barnaby and an image of cricket stumps. We will miss you terribly, but we won't forget you.Adieu, Barnaby. 'Today Taunton School lost one of its newest Alumni,' Caroline Tucker of the Old Tauntonians, an organisation for former students of Taunton School, stated on Facebook. "Barnaby Webber, who was 19 years old, a university student, and a resident of Marshall (one of the school's houses), was killed in the Nottingham attacks last night."

"A wonderful young man with a bright future." We live in a cruel world, Barney, and our lads will miss you. The suspect, a 31-year-old West African national who has lived legally in the UK since he was a teenager and has experienced mental health problems, was apprehended by police. According to reports, the focus of the inquiry into the rampage has shifted away from whether or not it was motivated by terrorism and onto the suspect's mental health. It is believed that the man, who is being questioned in connection with three deaths and the injuries of three others, had no prior criminal history but was well-known to authorities.

At the Rothesay Nottingham Open, British tennis player Andy Murray paid tribute to those who had been injured in the shooting spree and described the situation as "heartbreaking." The incident was "way more important than tennis," according to Murray, who had dinner out in Nottingham's city centre not far from where the attacks took place. "It was obviously shocking when I woke up this morning," he continued, "and a few messages on our team chat came up as I was going down to breakfast." We are staying in the city's downtown, and last night we went out to eat and walked through those neighbourhoods. That kind of event never happens, so it was incredibly unexpected.

The streets were closed this morning, so I wasn't sure if it would have an impact here or not. Obviously upsetting and tragic for the victims and those involved, so hopefully everyone is safe at this point. We were talking about it this morning, saying that there are much more important things than a tennis game, and we had no idea what was going on because it happened in the middle of the night. We didn't know if the tournament was going to be suspended for the day. "It is a little unsettling; everything seems to be under control at the moment, but it was shocking news to wake up to,"

Before play begins today (Wednesday), the tournament's officials have stated that there would be a moment of silence in honour of the three victims. The three victims are thought to have been randomly attacked and killed by a knifeman in all-black garb who was also carrying a bag. According to a Nottingham Trent University student who spoke to The Sun, Branaby'must have been walking back from Pryzm,' a nightclub in the heart of Nottingham. Everyone's final day was that day, the student added. Everyone headed to Pryzm after an all-day event at Binks Yard. Since there are so many students here, it always seems safe to walk.

Two residences in Nottingham have been searched by anti-terror police, who claim they are maintaining a "open mind" on the attacker's motivation. Police were summoned to a raid this afternoon near Ilkeston Road in a student neighbourhood of the city just after 4 a.m. on complaints that a young man and woman had knife wounds and were "unresponsive." After the initial assault, a third body—an unidentified guy in his 50s—was discovered on Magdala Street at around 5.30 am, according to police.

A spokeswoman for the police said at a news conference on Monday night that the current theory is that the 31-year-old guy killed the man in his 50s before stealing his van and crashing into three more nearby bystanders. The driver of a stolen van attempted to run over three persons in Milton Street, according to a subsequent call we received. As a result, two men are thought to have sustained minor injuries, while one man is in the hospital in a critical condition. The van was then halted on Maple Street, where police detained a guy on suspicion of murder after tasering him.

A member of the public also discovered a man in his 50s dead from knife wounds on Magdala Road. We currently think that the suspect stole this man's car, drove it to Milton Street, and then drove at members of the public there. The probe is still in its early stages. I must precisely ascertain the motivations behind this attack. In order to 'establish the facts' and ascertain the purpose of the attack, Nottinghamshire Police stated that they are currently collaborating with counterterrorism colleagues. They don't think there was any other party involved.

The families of all the victims have been notified, and they are receiving support from specialised personnel. "I want to thank those who live and work in our city for their tolerance and understanding under extremely trying conditions," Chief Constable Meynell continued. Naturally, we'll inform the public as soon as we have further information to share. We will do all in our power to help the victims and their families since it is a very terrible day for our city. At roughly 5.30am on Tuesday, police were called to the final incident on Milton Street, when a van struck three individuals who are currently receiving medical attention in a hospital.

At 5.40 am, the individual was tasered and then detained. Two others suffered only minor wounds, while one man is in severe condition. They are thought to have been standing there while they awaited a bus. Speaking in front of a police station in the city, Chief Constable Kate Meynell of Nottinghamshire Police said: Just after 4am, police were summoned to Ilkeston Road after a member of the public discovered two unconscious 19-year-old victims of stabbings.

Astonishment about the attack in Nottingham was also voiced by the Home Secretary. First of all, I want to express how horrified and devastated I am that three people lost their lives earlier today in Nottingham and that additional people were hurt in this horrible tragedy. Suella Braverman remarked. "My thoughts are with everyone who has been affected, including their friends, family, and communities in the first place. I wish to express my gratitude to the emergency services for their prompt action. They are working nonstop to keep people safe, and we are so appreciative of their efforts.

I often communicate with the Chief Constable of Nottinghamshire Police, but I want to take this chance to ask anyone who may know anything about this incident to come forward and alert the authorities. The collaboration between Nottinghamshire Police and Counter Terrorism Policing is appropriate. But it's also true to say that everyone, including the front-line specialists, is maintaining an open mind about what the precise motivation may have been. Two of the fatalities were confirmed to be students by the University of Nottingham yesterday, and the graduation ball set for Tuesday night has been postponed.

We confirm the untimely and unexpected deaths of two of our students who were involved in a significant incident that occurred overnight in Nottingham city centre with tremendous regret, a spokeswoman said. "We are horrified and appalled by the news, and our thoughts are with those who have been impacted, their families, and friends." We are aware that this will probably upset the employees and students in our community. Our support and wellbeing services offer assistance to all members of our community who may require it. Hundreds of people held a vigil at Nottingham's St. Peter's Church in the city centre to pay their respects to those who passed away and those who were hurt.

Those in attendance were allowed to light candles or leave flowers beneath the altar during the service, which was primarily attended by young people in their 20s and 30s. The Rt Revd Paul Williams, Bishop of Southwell and Nottingham, said the spontaneous service provided a chance to "pray for those whose lives have been so cruelly taken away." The bishop added that everyone in the city was "shocked and in disbelief." Students from Nottingham Trent University and the University of Nottingham were present at the vigil. One University of Nottingham second-year student remarked, "

We live fairly close to where, unfortunately, [the two students] were found, so it has properly shook up a lot of people," when asked about the incident outside the church. "It's very frightful." It's very awful that this occurred. Nadia Whittome, a Labour member of parliament for Nottingham East, declared: "This has shaken and completely devastated our entire city." Nothing comparable has ever occurred in Nottingham during my lifetime. However, I am aware of the city's already-present unity. We've just all returned from the vigil, which I know will continue over the next few days and weeks.

A lot of young people, in especially, attended it to show their support for their friends and relatives who were slain today. She urged those affected to take use of the support offered by Nottingham Victim Care and the University of Nottingham's wellness services. Following the tragic news that three persons, including two students from @UniofNottingham, lost their life, Education Secretary Gillian Keegan said: "My thoughts and prayers are with the City of Nottingham." Students and employees can get support, and my department is prepared to help in any manner we can.Earlier on Tuesday, Chief Constable Meynell said:

"This is a terrible chain of events that has resulted in the deaths of three innocent people and left another member of the public in a serious condition in a hospital. I'm thinking of all the families impacted by this shocking incident, and we'll be working very hard to figure out exactly what happened," he said. The investigation is still in its early phases, and we need to ascertain the reasons behind these attacks. We'll update the public as soon as we get more information. We are investigating the circumstances surrounding these incidents with an open mind and collaborating with Counter Terrorism Policing to gather the facts, as we would often do in these kinds of situations.

We do have a man in custody who was detained on murder suspicion. We currently don't think that anyone else is connected to this occurrence. "It is safe to enter the city centre, but a number of streets, including Ilkeston Road, Magdala Street, Milton Street, and Maple Street, will remain closed." Officers need to do this so they can obtain information about what transpired. Around 5.30 a.m., Lynn Haggitt, a witness, saw a man driving a white van close to the Theatre Royal on Milton Street.

Before 'quickening up' and smashing into two persons, the woman claimed the man looked in his rearview mirror and noticed a police car behind him. Witness Kane Brady told GB News that around 5.40 am on Bentinck Road, he heard 'what sounded like gunshots' and saw a person being tasered, pulled out of a van, and detained. Police have detained a 31-year-old male on Bentinck Road on suspicion of murder, and they are connecting the three fatalities. Around 5.30 a.m., delivery driver Miklos Toldi, 37, and his wife Petra discovered the older man's body as they were driving to work.

He added that the man had been stabbed and noted that the blood appeared to be fresh. One of the homes on Ilkeston Road that was raided yesterday is right next door, and Mohammed Qasim and Nisar Ahmed, who work there, claim police also broke into it last year. A for sale sign has been up for roughly two to three months, Mr. Qasim continued. Since then, we haven't seen anyone. The Telegraph claims that two female university students who were inside another home that was raided on Ilkeston Road claimed authorities frequently questioned them about whether they knew a black man who lived there.

A group of 20 policemen, some with guns, broke down the door and interrogated Bella Crawshaw and her flatmate Liv. Miss Crawshaw, a 20-year-old student of computer sciences, claimed that officers questioned her about whether she "hung out with" or knew of a black man who lived at the property. Later, the women were released. Tuesday afternoon, the city core of Nottingham was still closed off, and there were numerous police cars, fire trucks, and ambulances there. Ilkeston Road was taped off by police for around 400 yards, and what appeared to be medical supplies were lying about the site.

When two forensic officers arrived, they seemed to spend much of their time working in the bathroom and plumbing industry. In Bentinck Road, a white Vauxhall Vivaro van's vicinity was also blocked off. The passenger door of the van was left open, and there was what appeared to be a black bag on the road close to the door, just a short distance from the pavement. A witness told the BBC that at around 4 am, he witnessed a young guy and young woman being stabbed on Ilkeston Road in Nottingham, not far from the intersection with Bright Street.

The unnamed man claimed he heard "awful, blood-curdling screams" and looked out his window to see "a black guy dressed in all black with a hood and rucksack grappling with some people." He said to the announcer, "She was shouting, "Help!" I only wish I had yelled something out the window to startle the attacker. I witnessed him knife the boy before the woman. There were four or five stabbings that were repeated. The young man passed out in the middle of the street. The girl stumbled and stood still as she approached a house. They discovered her there after she vanished down the side of a home the following minute.

It everything seemed to happen in around five or six minutes. The attacker then simply and calmly walked off up Ilkeston Road towards town." Paramedics spent 40 minutes attempting to revive the pair after the man claimed he contacted the police, who came in five minutes. At around 5.30 am, Milton Street near the Theatre Royal was the scene of a van striking two people, according to witness Lynn Haggitt, who spoke to Channel 4 News. She reported, "At half past five, I saw a van pull up at the side of me." It was completely white. A police car was gently approaching behind it without any flashing lights.

The driver noticed the police car behind him when he glanced in his mirror. She claimed that after that, "the white van pulled up to the corner of the street and crashed into two people." He backed up the white van and drove quickly up Parliament Street with the police cars pursuing him after the woman ended up on the kerb, Ms. Haggitt continued. Ms. Haggitt was questioned about whether she believed the incident to be intentional. She responded, "I don't think I should say that, but to me he went straight into them, he didn't even bother to turn, just went back straight into them."

She said that a man looked to have a head injury when asked if the victims were seriously harmed. She continued, "They did get him to his feet, but she was sitting up on the curb, and to me she looked OK." "I was there for 15 minutes, but no ambulance showed up." I believe one of the policeman administered first aid. He took care of a man lying on the ground. According to Ms. Haggitt, she saw the van on her way to work, as reported by BBC News. "He looked in his rearview mirror and saw a police car coming up behind him. He then quickened his pace and ran into two people who were standing in the corner."

I wish I had never seen that because it has left me feeling really scared. "The woman went on the kerb, the man went up in the air, there was such a bang." I walked over even though I probably shouldn't have because I wanted to see if I might be of assistance. "The woman was on the kerb, sitting up, and she appeared fine." The man was lying down when he stood up and waited for an ambulance on the side. After the head injury, I can't believe he was still able to stand. A different eyewitness told Sky News that she observed a guy and a lady being struck by a van. On her way to work, Frances, whose last name was withheld, saw the car strike the two pedestrians as she was near the Theatre Royal in the heart of the city.

There was a guy and a female, she remarked. The woman was able to speak. She was hurting as a result of the encounter with the earth. Despite having a brain injury, she was still able to speak. The individual was hit by the van's full force and sustained head injuries while remaining conscious. "He didn't lose consciousness at that point; he was still awake." At around 5.30 am, a witness on Bentinck Road told GB News that he heard what appeared to be gunshots before witnessing armed police pull a man from a white van and take him into custody.

The witness, who wished to remain anonymous, could not see the man's face since he was covered by a hat. We heard what we thought were gunshots when we woke up this morning at 5:30. When we ran to a window, we saw armed cops running out of what appeared to be an undercover car, the witness added. The suspect, whoever is in the van, is then tasered, pulled outside, and taken into custody by them. We didn't actually witness any gunshots or anything, but the van's broken glass made it sound like them. Although I couldn't make out who it was, I did witness them being arrested from behind.

"We saw a man pinned down on the ground with multiple armed police surrounding him," he continued. "After that, more armed police showed up." "I just saw the police screaming at him to get out of the car and get on the floor," said student Demi Ojolow. He was taken out of the automobile and immediately collapsed to the ground. At this point, he was still fairly good at wrestling. "That was about it," they said as they hauled him away. Ms. Ojolow claimed that police were pointing a weapon of some sort at the man, though she was unsure if it was a Taser or a gun.

She had no idea if the van's driver was armed. She said, "Get out of the car and get on the floor," when asked what the cops yelled.Dimitrious Lawani, a different resident of Bentinck Road, reported: "Two of them (police) were holding what appeared to be a Taser." The other one appeared to be significantly larger than a Taser. That one, I'm not sure what it was. Mr. Lawani, a student, claimed to have arrived at the scene as the victim was being dragged from the van. 'There's two of them pulling him and two behind pointing at him, I think those were Tasers,' he claimed.

He reported that they yelled "Get down, get out, and stop fighting." Around 5.30 a.m., delivery driver Miklos Toldi, 37, and his wife Petra discovered the man's body while driving to work on Magdala Road. They pulled over behind another driver even though they reside about 100 yards from the scene of the body's discovery. According to Mr. Toldi, a native of Hungary, the victim had been definitely stabbed. He had grey hair, was in his mid-sixties, and wore black trousers. He reported, "I saw the body lying in the street." "Blood was dripping down the road." The blood appeared to be fresh.

He was not moving while resting on his side with his lips open. Following a 999 call, according to Mr. Toldi, the police arrived at the site in under two or three minutes. Mr. Toldi reported seeing what appeared to be many stab wounds in the man's chest as officers put the man on his back to begin doing CPR. He added, "His knuckles were also covered in blood." It came as a huge shock. I'm fine, but my wife worries me. The'sound of a woman's screaming' reportedly woke up one homeowner who lives above Magdala Road.

'I was scared it was the sound of someone being attacked, but thinking about it now, it may have been the person who came upon the body,' the unnamed man said. He claimed that afterward, he spotted cops outside the tennis club along with what seemed to be a body-covering sheet. Magdala Road is located in a middle-class neighbourhood with large detached homes that is lush. While ambulances, fire engines, and specialised officers wearing body armour and helmets are on the scene, six roads around the city and its outskirts have been closed, and tram services have been cancelled.
