At her Louisiana home, a one-year-old child drowned with only nine inches of water at the bottom of a kiddie pool. The majority of the water had been removed, but there was still roughly nine inches of water on the bottom, a spokeswoman for the neighbourhood police department told KVUE.

According to Kenner Police Department spokesperson Michael Cunningham, there was only nine inches of water in the pool. It is a tragic occurrence, The grandfather of the kids, who was meant to be minding them at the time, could potentially be charged with negligent homicide. Nevaeh still had a pulse when she was removed from the water, according to Cunningham, but she eventually passed away. Sandra Fugate, who is in mourning, claims her father was monitoring her four children at the time even though she has sole custody of them. Nevaeh's death is being investigated, according to the authorities.

It will also contain more interviews with the four-year-old witness and an adult's toxicological report. Depending on those outcomes, charges may be filed, although according to KVUE legal analyst Joe Raspanti, negligent homicide, which carries a zero to five-year sentence, is probably the "largest charge that they can bring in this case."

Raspanti acknowledged that negligent homicide is more frequently tried in connection with fatal car accidents, but stated that if authorities wanted to try and put him in jail, they would charge him with that. Sandra, a single mother of four who has characterised herself as struggling, is currently working to raise money for Nevaeh's funeral.

After Nevaeh passed away on Thursday, she almost immediately started a GoFundMe page, stating: "I need help with giving her a proper, meaningful burial, anything would help." By Tuesday night, it had amassed more than $2,000 in donations. Sandra's most recent Facebook posts demonstrate how devastated she is.

'My little angel, I don't under[under]stand] why God allows these things to happen, I just don't get it,' she wrote beside photographs of her baby girl on July 21, the morning following the toddler's passing. She wrote: 'I can't digest and I can't believe this. I'd rather be gone baby girl, I wish I could have given you my air from my lungs baby. I simply want it to be a dream when I wake up.

Later that day, Sandra wrote in another post that she was "just so angry with life, with God, with myself, and I'm so sorry Nevaeh my sweet angel, I'm so sorry baby." She again apologised to Nevaeh. She added, "I just want to hold you again, I want you to give mommy another hug, just lay your head on me again baby." The day after, Sandra added to her message by saying she was "trying so hard to be strong" for her other children, Nova, Krewe, and Amiri.

I just can't fathom this, she said, "My heart hurts so much, like I thought it hurt when I lost my momma, but losing my baby, not my baby, God." "I'm supposed to protect [them], but I've failed her, I've failed everyone," she said. Nevaeh drowned and died just two days before an unidentified seven-year-old kid drowned in an above-ground pool at a Slidell, Louisiana, house.

There hasn't been much information made public about the case, but St. Tammany Parish coroner Dr. Charles Preston stated that it appears the boy's drowning death occurred while he was "temporarily unattended." Preston added, "Unfortunately, these deaths happen far too frequently, and every single one of them is preventable." Paediatrician Dr. Anna Suessman said drownings can occur even in shallow water, prompting officials and local doctors to advise parents and guardians to keep a watchful eye on their kids around water.

She stated that if a smaller infant, who hasn't even learned how to roll over yet, can't prevent themselves, can't get themselves up and out of the water, if they are surrounded by water in their nose and mouth area, they choke in that water. According to the doctor, she takes strict water safety measures with her own kids. First of all, Suessman explained, "you need to hear an adult say, "Yes, you may enter"" before you can enter the water.

'Feet always come first. And if someone is observing, it will depend on whether you are wearing swimwear. She insisted that the person should always be an adult and be free from distractions like phones. According to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, there are an average of 11 drownings each day in the United States, making it the leading cause of death for children under the age of four. Experts caution that even near-drownings might cause victims to suffer from long-term neurological problems.
