Uley Hines of Coatesville, Pennsylvania, is charged with killing his roommate after an alleged argument over a dog, according to the New York Post. Hines was detained and charged with first- and third-degree murder, possession of a firearm, and possession of an instrument of crime, according to the Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan's office.

Around 8:40 on Saturday, August 19, the Coatesville Police Department was alerted to reports of a shooting that may have occurred at a home on Graham Avenue in Coatesville. The man, later identified as 61-year-old Keith Boggs, was found unconscious on the front steps with a gunshot wound to the upper left chest by responding cops.

Emergency responders arrived at the house and heard a female minor occupant screaming inside. Near the front entrance, cops also saw a bloody shoe print and some blood drips.Boggs was taken to a neighboring hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

The 911 caller reported hearing two shots before spotting the victim's feet on the ground. Investigators also found video evidence of Hines and Boggs together at the house before to the alleged shooting Hines, another roommate, and his son all resided in the home with Boggs, according to a witness who spoke with authorities earlier that day at the Coatesville police station.

They also related how they overheard Boggs and Hines arguing about a puppy.They claim that two bullets were fired while Boggs was carrying the dog upstairs, and that Hines then said, "I told you to stop fucking with me." The witness claimed to have then heard Boggs hit the ground.

In accordance with the results of his autopsy, Boggs had been shot three times, twice in the right and left sides of his chest and once in the right arm. As stated by District Attorney Deb Ryan, "This was a senseless crime that has left a community grieving," according to the New York Post.

"We express our sincere condolences to Mr. Boggs' family and friends," he continued, "as gun violence continues to be a deadly epidemic across the nation. To hold the defendant liable for this loss, our office will use every legal tool at our disposal.
