It was reported by a homeowner in his backyard that a 34-year-old homicide suspect who had earlier this month managed to escape from a jail in northwest Pennsylvania had been apprehended. Michael Burham was apprehended by the state police on Saturday night, July 15, after a protracted nine-day manhunt for the murder and arson suspect.

According to a county official, Burham managed to escape Warren County Prison in northwest Pennsylvania on July 6 soon before midnight using bound bedsheets and exercise equipment. George Bivens told the reporters during a press conference that officials were alerted about a "suspicious individual" in Conewango Township in Warren County just before 4 o'clock. Authorities said that Burnham was found in a homeowner's backyard when he went to see why his dog was howling. In their brief exchange, Burnham told the homeowner that he was on a "camping trip," according to Bivens.

The Lt Col said, "They went out to see why the dog was barking, went to the back of their property, and they met Burham." "I'm told that a brief dialogue took place during which he was questioned about his purpose for being there. He made some reference to camping. And when the landowner saw him, he called his wife back into the golf cart they were in and sped away so he could call us right away as Burham ran into the woods.

The homeowner immediately saw the escaped prisoner and called the police to report the encounter. According to the police, state and municipal law enforcement organisations collaborated to set up a large perimeter around the area with the support of K-9 units and aerial support. The cops pursued him despite his attempts to hide in the bushes. At around 5.50 pm, he was surrounded and put into prison.

Bevins reported that Burham appeared "tired" and "worn out" after being detained. He was inside-out but still wearing his orange jail uniform. According to authorities, Burnham won't be returning to the Warren County Jail where he fled more than a week ago. Burnham was being held there on 26 counts of arson, kidnapping, and burglary at the time of his breakout. Where he will be housed is still a mystery.
