Vladimir Putin Wiki - Vladimir Putin Biography

As the Wagner Group's mercenary forces advanced, Vladimir Putin's presidential jet left Moscow early on Saturday, feeding rumours that he had fled the Russian capital. The president's plane was observed on flight radar travelling from Moscow to the St. Petersburg region in the northwest, but it quickly vanished from the system close to Tver, where Putin has a sizable country estate, according to the BBC.  Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for Putin, insisted that his boss was still "working in the Kremlin" and refuted claims that he had fled during the crisis. Igor Artamonov, the governor of the Lipetsk region of Russia, which is immediately south of Moscow, told CNN that a military column carrying Wagner Group personnel and supplies was passing through the village of Krasnoye and going north.

The private Wagner Group has seized control of one Russian city and established a foothold in another, posing the greatest challenge to Putin's presidency in his lengthy career. Meanwhile, Ramzan Kadyrov, the leader of Chechnya, announced that his country's military are headed to Russia to assist in quelling the rebellion. It was a battle of Russian titans as Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the Wagner and a former ally of Vladimir Putin, and his hardened militia fighters seized Rostov-on-Don, a city of almost a million people on the Ukrainian border that serves as the logistical centre for Russia's entire invasion force, and moved swiftly north through western Russia.

Twitter videos revealed an uptick in violence, including an attack on what seemed to be an insurgent convoy travelling towards Moscow on the M-4. Putin contrasted Prigozhin's violent display to the Bolshevik revolution and the country's civil war, which broke out a little more than a century ago. In a speech broadcast on television, Putin compared the uprising at a time of conflict overseas to the revolution and civil war that broke out in Russia during World conflict One. "Excessive ambitions and vested interests have led to treason," he added.

All those who purposefully chose the route of betrayal, planned an armed uprising, or used terrorism as a form of blackmail will face unavoidable consequence and be held accountable to both the law and to themselves. Prigozhin, who has frequently criticised the leadership of the Russian military for its handling of the conflict, hit back at Putin. Prigozhin stated in an audio message on Saturday that the president was "deeply mistaken" in his assessment of the betrayal of the Motherland. "We love our country with all our hearts.

All of us PMC Wagner warriors have fought and continue to battle. Furthermore, nobody will submit to the demands of the President, the FSB, or anybody else. We don't want the nation to continue to be ruled by bureaucracy, deceit, and corruption. In a set of video and audio recordings published online on Friday, Prigozhin said that Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu had authorised a rocket attack against Wagner's military camp in Ukraine, which had killed 2,000 of his soldiers.

Prigozhin responded by stating that his forces would punish Shoigu, advising the Russian military to lay down their arms, and admonishing them to "destroy" anyone who dares to stand in their way."Those who killed our warriors and took tens of thousands of Russian soldiers' lives will be held accountable. In a tape of one of his infamous rants, he remarked, "I ask that no one give resistance. He declared, "There are 25,000 of us, and we are going to figure out why chaos is happening in the country," vowing to defeat any air forces or roadblocks in Wagner's path.

After exchanging furious letters all night, Prigozhin demanded Shoigu and the head of the general staff Valery Gerasimov visit him in Rostov. Putin's ability to gather sufficient forces to repel the Wagner Group at home is at risk since so many of his soldiers are stationed at the front and in southern Ukraine. When the Russian crisis started, Kyiv had just begun its strongest counteroffensive since the conflict began in February 2022. The former inmate Prigozhin commands a private army of tens of thousands of soldiers drawn from Russian prisons.

He and his troops engaged in some of the most difficult fighting of the 16-month conflict, squabbling with the highest lieutenants of the Russian Army for months. In a video message, Lieutenant-General of the Army Vladimir Alekseyev pleaded with Prigozhin to change his mind. "Only the president has the right to appoint the top leadership of the armed forces, and you are trying to encroach on his authority," he declared. The Russian people, according to Prigozhin, are on his side, not Putin's. We made it to Rostov without being shot at. The corporate headquarters was taken. There wasn't a single person there that we ran into," he claimed. He said, "There are people in the streets who unfurl Wagner flags as the guys come past," asserting that neighbours are offering to pay for meals and refreshments for his men out of a desire to help.
