In a case that raises doubts about the 6-month-old girl's cause of death, a Missouri mother has been accused of dumping her baby daughter's body.The Jackson County Jail is housing 25-year-old Raeleena S. Barlett in connection with Kha'liya Bridgewater's passing.

According to prosecutors, the case was first discovered on May 13 when Kansas City police were called to a report of a baby being discovered dead in a 19-acre vacant lot. Marty Lammers, her grandfather's ex-wife and granddaughter, apparently got in touch with information suggesting the remains might have belonged to her. This person was purportedly informed by Barlett about waking up to see the baby dead and bluish in the face.However, Barlett allegedly stated that she asked the two witnesses not to notify anyone about the death and that police and an ambulance attended.

According to the documentation, these two witnesses paid Barlett $500 after she requested assistance with the cremation costs. Documents show that when Barlett did ultimately speak with the police after Hurricane Miranda, she claimed to only have two children and not the infant. But she supposedly later acknowledged having a third, now-deceased kid.

Barlett "provided numerous versions of events for the night [redacted] died and claimed to not know how she died during questioning," according to the police' report. The documents that have been redacted state that she related a tale about her partner alerting her to the baby's choking.
