Parker's blood sample collection was authorised by a search warrant, which revealed more details regarding the circumstances behind the young boy's unfortunate demise. According to the documentation, when Parker called LPD's emergency dispatch line on her other child, a 2-year-old, "fell asleep on top of [victim] on the couch," she informed the operator. The victim was "trapped on the couch," Parker allegedly stated, according to the court order.

Officers at the scene added that after taking the victim to the hospital, they "detected the odour of alcohol coming from Parker." Parker allegedly told officers that she had drunk alcohol the previous night when questioned about the stench.

An agent from Child Protective Services (CPS) was dispatched to the area. According to police, Parker had a preliminary blood test (PBT) that was conducted by the CPS officer. She had a 0.14 blood alcohol concentration, according to the test. Investigators then obtained a blood sample from Parker for additional testing, stating that they were doing so "due to the fact that she was the [victim's] sole carer and a 2-year-old at the time of the infant's death."

According to the warrant, officers also removed from the residence "samples from the suspected area of death" including a bottle, blanket, formula, two onesies, and more in addition to Parker's blood.Parker is now being detained without bond at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail. At nine in the morning, she is expected to appear in Lynchburg Circuit Court.
