Jamie Major, the assistant manager of a South Carolina Burger King who allegedly served customers French fries that had been scooped out of a trash can, has been fired, the fast-food giant said.Burger King confirmed the firing of Jamie Major by the local franchise operator and strongly condemned his alleged actions in a statement to The Post on Thursday. “These allegations do not align with the brand's commitment to quality food and service and creating an exceptional guest experience,” a company representative wrote.
The employee in question has been terminated by the franchisee of this location. The franchisee is cooperating with local authorities, and because this remains an ongoing investigation, we are unable to share additional details at this time," the statement continued. Major lost his job following his arrest Monday on felony food tampering charges over claims the 39-year-old Burger King employee mixed fries from the trash with freshly cooked French fries.

The incident began to unfold on July 9, when Union Police Department officers were called to the burger joint on the Duncan Bypass in Union for a reported disturbance. Police officers observed two women yelling at Burger King workers, threatening and insulting them. When the women ignored the officers' plea for calm, they were arrested for disorderly conduct, Fox Carolina reported. Two days later, Burger King headquarters contacted police, telling them that Major had been serving fries out of garbage to customers. Police investigated the complaints of an upset stomach and a warrant was issued for Major's arrest. The woman had been released from jail after posting $20,000 bail, The State reported. If she is found guilty, Major could face up to 20 years in prison.
