Greg Capers Wiki - Greg Capers Biography

Following the shooting of 11-year-old Aderrien Murry in Indianola last Saturday, Mississippi Police Officer Greg Capers has been placed on administrative leave, according to authorities. Calls for Mr. Capers to be dismissed and for the Department of Justice to seek an exhaustive investigation by the Indianola Police Department have been made in response to the killing of an unarmed youngster in his home after dialling 911 to report a domestic disturbance.

Nakala Murry, Aderrien's mother, revealed during a press conference that she had instructed her son to dial 911 after her ex-partner arrived to the family's BB King Road house "angry" on May 20 at around 4 a.m. Two cops, according to Ms. Murry, arrived at 6 a.m. and told everyone inside to leave. A police officer shot Aderrien in the chest in the living room as she followed her mother out of the house.

Sergeant Greg Capers works for the Indianola Police Department. Mr. Capers lives in Indianola and is from West Monroe, Louisiana, where he once served as a police officer, according to a social media account. He wed LaShundra Fletcher-Capers in 2016. He has numerous kids.

Mr. Capers frequently shares updates on social media about his family, his religion, and his professional abilities as a police shooter. In 2021, next to a shooting target that was covered in bullets, he scrawled, "The new No Trespassing sign!" On Friday, no one picked up the phone at a number listed under Mr. Capers. He ignored a number of texts.

Linton Capers, Caper's brother, commented on Caper's Facebook page that the police officer was "hurt." "I don't know what happened, and this infant has my sympathy. However, I am aware that we were brought up to lead moral lives. The brother said, "I know my brother is hurt and sincerely remorseful for what he did.

He received the Police Force Cop of the Year award in May 2021, according to a report in the Indianola Enterprise-Tocsin. The Police of the Year award has been interpreted by Aderrien's family and representatives as evidence of structural issues within the force. At a news conference on Monday, Ms. Murry detailed trying to halt the blood loss from her son's wounds while holding up a sign that read, "Your 'best' cop shot my baby."

Murry and Moore joined a small group of demonstrators demanding Capers' dismissal outside the municipal hall buildings on Thursday. Tuesday's Board of Aldermen meeting saw Capers being placed on administrative leave. Moore acknowledged to The Independent that he was pressuring the police and the city for an explanation. "We're asking, 'What did you see, and why did you shoot'?"

Moore stated in a Friday interview. "I believe they fired first, then inquired. He doesn't look like a guy at all; he's a 4'10" young child. "A trained officer had no reason to fear for his life when an 11-year-old boy approached without a gun in his hands," the officer said. The Independent contacted Mayor Ken Featherstone several times for comment, but he never returned the calls. The incident is the subject of an inquiry by the Mississippi Bureau of inquiry to see if any criminal charges should be filed.
