Everyone is so disturbed and grieved by his loss and his absence that we are unable to even open today because of his presence and his impact on these people.

Police Chief Estella Patterson told WRAL that due to an increase in crime this summer, the agency has enhanced patrols in the vicinity of the attack. In order to maintain both vitality and safety in that neighborhood, she said, "we're going to continue to do that."
