A Texas couple, who were about to celebrate their 52nd wedding anniversary, died after their air conditioner failed during a scorching heat wave. Monway Ison, 72, and Ramona Ison, 71, were discovered dead on June 16 at their Baytown home, next to the body of their pet dog. After weeks of high temperatures, their air conditioner unit failed just four days before the couple died.

The Isons allegedly attempted to obtain a loan for the following week in order to repair the air conditioner since they lacked the funds to cover the repair charges, which are estimated to be between $1,400 and $1,600. Unfortunately, the loan was approved on June 15, and by the time the repairman reached at the couple's house the next day, they were already dead and being examined by medics.

"I've read about how disorienting the heat can be at that point, how exhausted you can feel, what to look out for, and I don't think they really knew what to look out for," Floods explained.She hopes that sharing her parents' story may prevent more people from dying as a result of the extreme heat.
