According to police, the horrific daylight attack on the upscale Ponte Vedra beach in Jacksonville was only stopped when a courageous Good Samaritan witnessed the rampage and stepped in to stop it.

As he turned to face the commotion, he observed Pearson repeatedly stabbing Schemitz as he carried her to the ground. Pearson was quickly thrown off the wailing and bloodied victim by Armstrong's lunge.

One of Schemitz's accounts stated, "She is the sister of five brothers and will have a long road to recovery as she is in critical condition at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville." Pearson, who had a serious self-inflicted neck cut, is still in critical condition. If Pearson lives, the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office stated it will accuse her with attempted murder.
