A neighbour claimed that the graduate who is suspected of killing three people with a knife in Nottingham 'used to sit out the back of his house with his top off, smoking and drinking' when it became clear that he was looking for employment. Valdo Calocane, who is believed to be from Guinea-Bissau in West Africa, earned a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Nottingham last summer. The 31-year-old listed his "strong interest in dynamics analysis, modelling, and big data analytics" along with "computer programming" on a jobs website.

According to his profile, he was looking for a full-time job. He was a short distance from the section of Ilkeston Road where the victims, both 19 years old, perished early on Tuesday. A property on Ilkeston Road was raided by armed officers earlier this week, according to neighbour Kamran Kahn, 41, who claimed that Calocane used to hang out there with an ex-partner. The individual in police custody, according to the police, is the same person who was spotted entering an assisted living community on Mapperley Road.
