A renowned cancer doctor committed suicide with her infant inside her million-dollar Westchester home, according to authorities, in what they are calling a "murder-suicide." Dr. Krystal Cascetta, 40, was a hematology and oncology expert at Mount Sinai in New York City. According to ABC7, the horrific occurrence occurred at 7 a.m.  Saturday in the baby's room in the city of Somers, which is located in Westchester County. According to police, the situation was "consistent with a murder/suicide."

The baby's age and gender have yet to be released by police, but a due date shared online says Cascetta was due in March of this year. On Saturday, DailyMail.com phoned her husband, Tim Talty, 37. 'Can you give us some time?' Talty asked, agitated. The pair married in a gorgeous wedding in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, in 2019, with Cascetta wearing a magnificent white fishtail gown. It's unclear if the couple has any more children.

"The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) Somers is investigating a murder/suicide in the City of Somers," according to a state police statement. According to preliminary investigations, Krystal Cascetta entered her son's bedroom at 7:00 a.m. and shot her infant and then herself.The evidence points to a murder/suicide."

Dr. Cascetta had shared a $1 million property with Talty in the Granite Springs neighborhood of Somers, New York. He posted photos of the two in Austin, Texas, on his Instagram profile, saying Cascetta had come to visit him when they first started dating. The couple married January 2019 during a party in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, after what Talty described as "so special."

'My wife!' she exclaimed at the time. It took us a year to plan and a lifetime to gather all of the lovely people who helped make our wedding so memorable!' Talty has his own energy bar company, Talty Bar, and has discussed on social media how his wife has used her medical and scientific knowledge.

Cascetta was a breast cancer specialist and board-certified hematologist and medical oncologist in New York City. She graduated from Albany Medical College, where she was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society for displaying excellence in humanistic clinical treatment, leadership, compassion, and service. Cascetta was described as an active runner and fitness fanatic in a biography.

According to her biography, becoming a doctor "was in her DNA" and she was frequently seen as a toddler wrapping her wrists in gauze. Her mother's best friend died of breast cancer when she was in eighth grade, and this experience is supposed to have inspired her to pursue a career in medicine. As a result of this occurrence,was an active investigator of breast cancer clinical trials.

She was named Intern of the Year at North Shore University Hospital's School of Medicine. After finishing a fellowship program in Hematology and Medical Oncology, she worked as a senior fellow at Mount Sinai Hospital. Cascetta belongs to the American Society of Clinical Oncology as well as the American Society of Hematology.
