According to authorities, an Arkansas man killed another person with a hammer and dumped his body in the bathtub because he believed the victim was attempting to "seduce" him. Theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, and first-degree murder are among the charges brought against 19-year-old Matthew Earl Speakman. The Independence County Jail received a booking for him on May 17, but charges weren't officially filed until Tuesday.

According to the arrest document, Speakman is accused of being involved in an accident on May 17 while operating the 2009 Nissan Murano owned by the victim, Jason Anderson, 49. The documents state that the owner could not be reached at the time by phone or at his residence.Later on, though, a "hysterical" woman called the police to report that Anderson was dead and that she thought he had been murdered because his car was gone.

While their route to the crime scene in the village of Sulphur Rock, the agents learned about Speakman's accident. They claimed Anderson was discovered dead in a bathtub at the time with the water still flowing. Officers "started digging deeper into the crime scene and found blood on the shower wall and bloody shoe prints from the bathroom area on the living room floor", they added. The sufferer had suffered head trauma.

Officers discovered a hammer, hammer handle, and three (3) large pebbles within the bathtub after removing the deceased, according to their report. Later that day, near Sulphur Rock, an officer discovered Speakman and discovered a smoking device containing residue from methamphetamine, according to the records.

"During the course of the contact, Speakman offered the officer to check his shoes for contraband," they said in their report. "The officer examined the shoes and observed that they matched bloody shoe prints discovered inside the deceased's home." The records state that Speakman consented to talk to investigators regarding the smoking device and its use in Anderson's Nissan Murano.

He allegedly admitted removing the methamphetamine smoking apparatus from Anderson's car after finishing a bill of rights. The dead guy and Speakman's shoe prints at the victim's residence, according to the investigators, prompted their confrontation with him. Speakman allegedly said, "You all need the truth, don't you?" $1 million has been established as Speakman's bail. As of Wednesday morning, no court date had been set, and he has not yet pleaded guilty.
