Authorities have announced that the body of missing adolescent Kaden Forke was found in Lake Austin on Monday night after a boating mishap. Just a few days before he was set to enrol as a freshman at Lake Travis High School, the 14-year-old passed away. When Forke lost control while crossing the wake of another boat and smashed into a bank, he was on a boat with six other people. Four other people were injured seriously and sent to nearby hospitals.

Despite a thorough search and recovery effort by the Austin Police Department's Lake Patrol unit and dive team, Lake Med EMS, the Austin Fire Department, and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Forke was tragically declared dead at the scene.  Austin-Travis County EMS Capt. Darren Noak stated, "With a lake that's as narrow as it is, it fills up very quickly," during a news conference on Monday.
