After their three children allegedly showed up at school covered with bedbugs, an Ohio couple was detained. Following the May incident, which was reported to the Mahoning County Sheriff's Office by Youngstown City School District officials, Miranda Campbell, 32, and Jason Goodspeed, 39, were charged with child endangerment.

In an email that local TV station WFMJ was able to get, school administrators said that the kids were allegedly covered in bedbugs and that cockroaches were crawling out of their backpacks. According to the school, each time the kids showed up at school in such attire for a few days, clean clothing were provided for them to change into. Police checked on the children's wellbeing at their home after being notified.

They discovered a significant bedbug and cockroach infestation within the home, preventing them from inspecting the basement. Campbell pled guilty to a charge of failing to register a dog after the police also took many animals from the residence. The police reported that they could smell the stink from the pavement even before they entered the house.

According to reports, the parents claimed they had tried unsuccessfully to eradicate the infection. Ms. Campbell asserted that she was never contacted by the school system about the children's health. Currently, a family member is taking care of the kids.
