Concerned friends followed the adolescent to a water stream, where he fell once more. After being taken to a nearby hospital, he passed away an hour later.

"His personality made you fall in love with him," she said to KHOU. His smile was contagious. It is clear from the silent moment that everyone adored him. Wood started a GoFundMe page to assist Hernandez's family with burial expenses.
