According to the Bay County Sheriff's Office near Panama City, cops in Florida's Panhandle caught a man who broke into a church and then leaped into the church's baptism pool. Derek Porter, of Georgia, is charged with burglary of an occupied structure, criminal mischief, methamphetamine possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Friday, deputies responded to a burglary call at the Emerald Beach Church of God. According to a statement placed on the Bay County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, they discovered Porter used a cinder block to break a window. After hearing the glass smash, a woman working at the church ran outdoors. Porter caused around $8,000 in damage to the church before loading a TV and computer into his truck, along with the church's money bag, according to deputies.

"Porter stated he could not remember what happened during various moments inside the church," according to the Facebook post. "However, he did recall baptizing himself in the church's baptistry pool." Porter reports that'something' was holding his head down under the water as he was in the pool."

A montage of body camera footage shared to Facebook showed deputies approaching Porter, who had his hands up, and asking him if he had anything on him that they needed to know about, as well as whether there was anyone else inside.
"I don't know," Porter said.

Another video showed a broom in the baptism pool, followed by the K9 getting in for a swim, which caused the responding deputies to laugh. Porter was arrested and sent to the Bay County Jail, where he has since bonded out. He had already been released on bond in connection with a previous burglary case in Georgia, according to officials.
