In Illinois, a 58-year-old man will spend the rest of his life in prison for brutally killing an 80-year-old woman by strangling her with an electrical wire, stabbing her with scissors, and hitting her with a blunt object. According to court documents analyzed by Law&Crime, Sangamon County Circuit Judge John Madonia ordered David D. Smith to serve life in a state prison for the 2019 murder of Donna Bricker on Tuesday.
