Peter Bloomfield

Peter Stewart Bloomfield was born on March 9, 1961 and lived at 71, Vincent Close, Studlands Park, Newmarket.

He served a five-year apprenticeship with Guy Harwood, then a further three with Alan Bailey.

Harwood supplied Peter with a winning double at Goodwood: Peter nominated this day as the highlight of his career.

His first winner had come at Leicester on Oisin on October 31, 1977.

He was just 16 at the time and Oisin was his sixth ride in public.

Peter rode around 150 winners before gradually fading from the scene.Â
