The Initial Rail Yard Design

Early in 2009, we began the design of a five-module rail yard that would be the big project for the year. To make it easier to see and understand, larger views of each of the five modules follow.

On the west (left) end is an upgrade of the original 2008 Iceing Platform module. Crossovers will be added between the mainlines and their respective sidings.

The next module bumps out six inches to the visitor side of the module to make room for a rail yard for the Westbound Main. It contains the yard tower and a turnout from the first siding to the second.

The middle module contains the crossover between the second and third sidings off the Westbound Main, and the crossover between the first and second sidings off the Eastbound Main. It also contains facilities for servicing engines and trains.

The fourth is the last of the 30-inch wide modules; at its east end, it narrows to 24 inches. It will contain a passenger station with walkway over the tracks.

The fifth and easternmost module is the existing Milk Platform module built in 2008.
