August 20, 2019 - Meeting Summary
The San Diego S-Gaugers held the August club meeting at our clubhouse (304 on the mall map) in Grossmont Center at 10:00am. Attendees were: Mike Forys, Robert Graves, Wes Noel, Don Briggs, Alex Sibbald, Ken Sadlock, Jerry Shiller, Raulf Polichar and Les Smith.
Introduction of new faces / Show and Tell:
Mike Forys brought in this year's, MTH club car (PS1 Box Car). He also displayed the latest Lionel catalog (2019 Vol. II). Mike passed around the Franklin era passenger car with period proper silhouettes installed. Ken brought in Amtrak Literature from the Southwest Chief including menus and prices from 1985. He reported that they came from his parent's first Amtrak trip. John Racey sent the club a shallow profile industrial building kit similar to the ones that Wes Noel has built and installed on the main layout near the terminal (PY 3.5). Wes also installed polarized plugs on our main layout transformers. Lighting has also been installed inside our display case.
Treasurer’s Report:
Robert Graves reported that we received $226.64 from visitor donations in July. He reported that we had a monthly electric bill of $165.87.
Standards Report:
Raulf Polichar has produced and installed 7 switch indicators for the S-Curve and AC Gilbert side of the main layout.

Old Business:
Website Update:
Mike Forys reported that Google my business and Facebook will take the visitor to our website.
New Clinics:
Raulf Polichar will present a clinic on DCC at our next meeting. He will show us how to use the new programming track that he prepared.
Streeterville:
The Streeterville layout is now running reliably with vintage Flyer engines with DC can motors.
On the 17th of Sept. we will swap out the Streeterville window layout for the Halloween Ceramic
Village Scene.
SN3 Addition Status:
The Sn3 layout has been moving ahead with the rebuilding of the missing section of skyboard and the recreation of the lake. Tables for the power units have been constructed and replacement dual S gauge turnouts have arrived and are awaiting installation.
Window Layout Success and Visitor Attendance:
As of 08/17/2019 the Liberty Loop and Streeterville window layout buttons have been pushed 3,737 times since our last meeting, 138,933 times since we first installed one at Grossmont Center and 178,315 times since day one. Numbers include second button activation.

The next meetings will be on Tuesdays, Sept 17th and Oct 22nd and will be held at our clubhouse (suite 304 on the mall map) in Grossmont Center at 10AM.
Grossmont Center Post Office Address:
Although the Grossmont Mall map shows us occupying suite 304, the post office address for the clubhouse is 5500 Grossmont Center Drive, Suite 181, La Mesa Ca, 91942.
NMRA:
Bob Graves reported that the club net $91 from sales of donated trains at the NMRA swap meet.
Work Day:
The club will not schedule a work day this month.
Display Box:
Dale Minard has constructed and installed another very nice eight, foot, long train display box. He is working on the plexiglas doors. Mike Forys has filled the first display box with a Polar Express Train and a Franklin passenger train.
S-Scale Magazine S-Gaugian:
The magazine has announced that it will cease publication by the end of the year. Unfullfilled subscriptions will be completed with Classic Toy Trains magazines.
