August 15, 2017 - Meeting Summary
The San Diego S-Gaugers held the August club meeting at our clubhouse (304 on the mall map) in Grossmont Center at 10:00am. Attendees were: Alex Sibbald, Mike Forys, Robert Graves, Raulf Polichar, Wes Noel, Al Kiel, Dale Minard, Don Briggs, and Les Smith.
Introduction of new faces / Show and Tell:
Raulf Polichar displayed the switches he is working on. Wes Noel brought in Aleene's Tacky Glue, which he recommends. Les Smith passed around the book titled Off the Mainlines. Dale Minard delivered the inserts for the window layout.
Treasurer’s Report:
Bob Graves reported that we received $297.59 from visitor donations in July.
Standards Report:
Raulf Polichar reported that he should have 5 switches ready by Tuesday.
Publicity Report:
The photo of the boy who activated the button on the window display for the 100,000th time has been sent to a local newspaper.

Bob Graves has added a photo of the boy who pressed the button for the 100,000th time.
PY3.5 (station expansion):
The module has the tracks glued down and is ready for ballast and scenery.
New Gilbert Town Modules:
Two of the three new Gilbert Town modules have been installed on the main layout and scenery has been finished. Track is installed on the 5th module and it is ready for scenery. The third module is awaiting a #5 turnout, which should arrive on Tuesday. The 4th Module retrofitting has been started.
S Curve Module:
The S Curve Module is ready for track and track. The power panel and switch panel are in process.
Window Layout Success and Visitor Attendance:
As of 08/12/2017 the window layout button has been pushed 2,945 times since our last meeting, 65,764 times since we installed it at Grossmont Center and 100,737 times since day one. We hit 100,000 activations on Aug. 5th, 2017 as predicted.

Future events:
The next meetings will be held on Tuesday Sept 19, 2017 and Tuesday October 17th. All meetings will be held at our Suite (304 on the mall map) in Grossmont Center at 10AM.
Skyboard Painting:
A big thank you to Mike's niece Grace who painted some of our sky boards this month.
Gilbert Window layout:
Derail issues have diminished quite a bit by the efforts of Bob Graves who replaced the front truck of the offending engine. The transformers have been swapped out with transformers with circuit breakers.
New Clinics:
Al Kiel has suggested a clinic for repairing A.C. Gilbert whistling bill boards and has offered to supply a broken one as a subject.
Clubhouse Construction:
Mike Forys submitted a list of tasks for the layout expansion and a suggested schedule for completing them. Target dates are September 13th, 14th and 15th.
NMRA 2018 Regional Convention:
Mike Forys has suggested that we participate by sending the timesaver module and the Gilbert Window Display to the convention while the clubhouse would be included on the layout tour.
Holiday Clubhouse Expanded Schedule:
The proposed Sundays during the Holiday Season are Nov.19, 26th, and Dec.3rd, 10th,and 17th.
Train Donation:
Burdette Streeter has donated his train collection to the club. We thank him for his kindness. Bob Graves is documenting the collection and collecting suggestions for the usage and dispersal.
