June 21, 2016 - Meeting Summary


The San Diego S Gaugers held the June club meeting at our clubhouse (304 on the mall map) in Grossmont Center at 10:00am. Attendees were: Les Smith, Alex Sibbald, Bob Graves, Ken Sadlock, Don Briggs, Wes Noel, Mike Forys and Raulf Polichar.


Show and Tell:

Ken Sadlock displayed 5 AF cars purchased at S Fest West and 4 AF cars obtained at the AGTTA swap meet. Ken explained how he repaired and modified his purchases. He also brought in a Santa Fe poster obtained from Goodwill that he framed and added it to the wall decorations. Mike Forys passed around a new waffle sided boxcar manufactured by Lionel.

Treasurer’s Report:

Bob Graves reported that we received $232.71 from visitor donations in May.

Standards Report:

Raulf Polichar is working on new switches for Gilbert Town and a separate window button and control box for the ceramic village display. Raulf reported that we have a spare window button located for now inside the mountain access door.

Old Business:

SDSG Website:

Bob Graves is working to add new pictures and page counters.

PY3.5 (station expansion):

The module is ready for gluing down the track and the station platforms are in the works. (On hold)

T1 replacement frame:

The replacement frame is ready for track. (On hold)

New Gilbert Town Modules:

The three new Gilbert Town modules are ready for laying track. Mike Forys reported that the MTH flextrack is 1/8”

longer, than the original S Helper flextrack.


New Business:

501(C)3 status:

Mike Forys explained the application for 501(C3) status is now complete.

Clinics:

A clinic was held by Wes Noel before the meeting demonstrating the application of Bullfrog Snot on locomotive drive wheels. Bob Graves recorded the event.

Window Layout Success:

As of 06/18/2016 the window layout button has been pushed 2,572 times since our last meeting, 26,431 times since we installed it at Grossmont Center and 61,359 times since day one.

Future events:

The next meetings will be held on Saturdays July 16th and August 20th. The September 13th and October 18th meetings will be held on Tuesdays. All meetings will be held at our Suite (304 on the mall map) in Grossmont Center at 10AM.

Track Issues:

The PY5 turnout problem has been fixed again.

Clubhouse Issues:

Mike Forys discussed the potential addition of rerailers on the Ceramic Village Display. He explained that the derail tendency of the GP20 on the Liberty Loop Display lessens with the reduction of speed.

Mike also discussed several summer layout possibilities for our Ceramic Village Window Display.

La Mesa Courier:

An article depicting the club and its activities is slated to appear in the June/July edition of the La Mesa Courier.
