July 28, 2012 - Meeting Summary
The San Diego S Gaugers held the July club meeting in our clubhouse in Liberty Station. Attendees were: Mike Forys, Raulf Polichar, Bob Graves, Alex Sibbald, Dale Minard, Bill Brown and Oakley Warren.
New Faces:
The club welcomed Dennis Trout who joined us for our Fix Your Locomotive work session organized by Bob Graves. The session was conducted before the meeting and resulted in several locomotives returned to the tracks.
Treasurer’s Report:
The treasurer reported that donations have now covered all clubhouse set up expenses including the partition/mural.
Standards:
Raulf gave us an update on the application of LEDs in model trains.
Old Business
PY4/PY5 Passing Siding:
Switch is being fabricated. Plan is to have siding completed and tested before our SDSRM Labor Day Weekend event at the museum.
Lift bridge module:
On Hold, waiting for Design.
Window Layout:
Liberty Station is being constructed and the corner mountain is coming along nicely. The activation counter registered 741 hits since our last meeting.
SDMRM Labor Day Visit:
The visit to the museum will be a 4 day event. Teardown will take place on the Wednesday proceeding Labor Day weekend. Setup will be on Thursday afternoon and the event will run from Friday until Monday. We will pack up and return the modules to the clubhouse on Monday afternoon. Setup in the clubhouse will be Tuesday and Wednesday and will include adding one more module on each side into the layout.
Inside Staging area:
We are reviewing alternatives to the initial design.
Upgrade SDSG Website:
In process.
Name the main layout:
Perhaps a contest to determine a name would help this effort.
New Business
Things to do before SDMRM Event:
We need to label modules and end plates. The club voted to replace scratched Plexiglas.
Future Clinics:
Our second engine repair clinic was a success. We will be scheduling more in the future.
Next Open House:
We discussed the possibility of an open house on October 20th.
Future events:
Future meetings are scheduled for Aug. 25th , Sept 22, Oct 27th, Nov 17th, Dec 8th (?) and Jan 19, 2013.
Bob volunteered to have our meeting at his house in December following the GTE on the evening of December 1st.
