February 18, 2020 - Meeting Summary
The San Diego S-Gaugers held the February club meeting at our clubhouse (304 on the mall map) in Grossmont Center at 10:00am. Attendees were: Mike Forys, Wes Noel, Ken Sadlock, Alex Sibbald, Don Briggs, Raulf Polichar, Dale Minard, Jerry Shiller and Robert Graves.
Introduction of new faces / Show and Tell:
Ken Sadlock brought in a framed train order display from the 1940's. He also presented a Southern Pacific Train order for each of the attendees. Dale Minard displayed 4 bar stools for the members to use while entertaining visitors that he purchased for the club. Mike Forys passed around a spray can of WD-40 contact cleaner that he has used successfully to clean the track. He also related Grossmont Center's fire or earthquake evacuation procedure. Jerry Shiller brought in a brochure depicting a wood model kit of a steam locomotive.
Treasurer’s Report:
Robert Graves report stated that we received $274.42 from visitor donations in January. His report stated that we had a monthly electric bill of $273.75.
Standards Report:
Raulf Polichar displayed a template that he is working on that will locate mounting holes for the tortoise switch motors used on the Sn3 display.
Publicity Report:
Les Smith is working on updating the club accomplishment wall display.

SN3 Addition Status:
The Sn3 layout skirt and plexiglass are complete. The club discussed affixing the backboard to the wall instead of to the layout. This would allow easy access to the rear of the layout.
Window Layout Success and Visitor Attendance:
As of 02/15/2020 the Window Layout Button 1 has been pushed 1,016 times and Window Layout Button 2 has been pushed 666 times for a total of 1,682 times since our last meeting, 158,831 times since we first installed one at Grossmont Center and 199,159 times since day one. At the current rate we will hit 200,000 pushes in February; The club discussed purchasing a model train set to award the person who pushes the button for the 200,000th time.

Future events:
The next meetings will be on Tuesdays, March 17th and April 21st and will be held at our clubhouse (suite 304 on the mall map) in Grossmont Center at 10AM. The Ceramic Christmas Display will be replaced with the Streeterville Display today after the Feb 18th meeting. The NMRA tour will be hosted on March 14th.
Work Days:
The club will have work days on Feb 27th and March 12th at 10:00AM to prepare for the upcoming NMRA tour.
Lego Build Event:
The Lego Event will be held on Saturday, February 29th and will run from noon until 4PM. The upcoming Lego Build days will be held on the last Saturday of the even numbered months except December will be on the third Saturday of the month.
Club Exhibit Insurance:
Mike Forys explained the cost of insurance to cover layout and member assets. He investigated blanket coverage costs and reported that it would be $15 per $10,000 more than inventory based coverage with $250 deductible. He approximated that it would run between $75-$100 per year.
