May 19, 2012 - Meeting Summary
The San Diego S Gaugers held the May club meeting in our clubhouse in Liberty Station. Attendees were: Mike Forys, Al Kiel, Raulf Polichar, Bob Graves, Alex Sibbald and Dale Minard.
Show and tell:
Al Kiel brought in a Western Maryland O gauge hopper made by MTH and an AF dealer shirt pocket smoke fluid dispenser.
Treasurer’s Report:
The treasurer reported that donations are exceeding electric bills at the clubhouse, the initial startup expenses of moving into the clubhouse are already paid off and we are paying down the cost of the partitions with the donations.
Standards:
Raulf is taking the window display control module home for an evening to install the counter.
Old Business
PY4/PY5 Passing Siding
Raulf is constructing a switch for the interface. Mike is working on the culvert.
Lift bridge module:
On Hold, waiting for Design.
Window Layout:
Mike has the lower portion of the mountain ready for gluing. Alex is waiting for parts for Liberty Station.
SDMRM Labor Day Visit:
Mike will get in touch with John’s replacement at SDMRM to decide on 4 or 5 day event.
Inside Staging area:
Mike has cut all the wood necessary for the addition. Several, re-rail options were discussed. The consensus was to use a strip of 1/8” thick Plexiglas approximately 5/8” wide on each track used for assembling trains.
Upgrade SDSG Website:
In process.
National Train Day:
National Train Day was a big success. The stickers and cookies were a hit and we had a steady stream of visitors who showed up before opening until closing.
San Diego Layout Tours:
Southern San Diego will host layout tours on July 14 and we are included. Liberty Station is holding movie night on the South Promenade on the same day so that will be our next open house. It will run from about 11AM until 8PM or whenever the movie begins.

New Business
Things to do:
Current priorities are still Liberty Loop construction, PY4/PY5 addition and inside layout staging area. The track on the main layout needs cleaning.
Future dates:
There will be an engine clinic from 11:00am until 2:00pm on Saturday, June 23rd. Bring in your tired locomotive for a check up. The next meeting of 2012 will be held following the clinic at the clubhouse at 2:00pm. Future meetings are scheduled for July 28th and Aug. 25th.
June 16th is the date for the annual AGTTA meet.
