June 29, 2013 - Meeting Summary

The San Diego S Gaugers held the June club meeting in our clubhouse in Liberty Station. Attendees were: Mike Forys, Bob Graves, Dale Minard, Alex Sibbald, Raulf Polichar, Les Smith and Ken Sadlock.

Show and Tell:

Raulf Polichar brought in a painted, brass Bordens Tankcar to share. Bob Graves brought in an MTH Catalog. Les Smith gave the club a CSX First aid kit. Dale brought in almost to scale Helicopters which will fit on a standard length flat car.

Treasurer’s Report:

Bob Graves reported that we took in $174.39 in clubhouse donations during May.

Standard’s report:

Raulf Polichar has been working on a system for aligning our modules with precision, locating pins to facilitate modular layout setup. The system has been tested using our two test modules with encouraging results. There will be a work session on Friday, July 5th to begin standardizing our modules.

Old Business:

PY2.0:

Dale’s icing station lights need to be wired. There is interference with the icing parking lot and the track. The track may require adjusting. The module still needs a switch control motor.

PY2.5

This module still needs switch control motor and clouds. (on-hold)

Lift bridge module:

The Entry/ Exit module is operational however it needs to be lowered gently, no need to push it down. We need a sign to emphasize this on the inside. Vineyard construction is in process.

Window Layout:

Our activity counter has recorded a total of 1329 hits in the last month.

Upgrade SDSG Website:

Items that need addressing are reducing the side menu, adding Lands End ordering sheet & Membership application and updating module developments. Bob is working on a plan to allow others to help with this effort.

Window Scenery Update:

The window layout, Liberty Loop, has seen much progress this month. The ground color has been completed on about 70% of the module and the lake area has been laid out. Palm trees and scenic items have been added to the motel and train station. Wood trim has been added to the visitor accessible edges.

Module Scenery Update:

Progress has been made on the beaver pond featured on Twin Lakes Corner module. Lake bottom needs paint completion; it is almost ready for water.

New Business:

GTE 2013:

We will be using our two test modules to increase the width of our modular layout by 4 foot at this year’s GTE show. Landscaping needs to be done on both modules.

Future tasks:

Setup a schedule to pin-align our modules. Develop a plan to make our door visible from up and down the colonnade.

Future events:

The future monthly meetings will be held on July 27th and Aug 24, 2013. The September meeting will be held on the 21st 2013. The next open house will be on July 13th. Mike has confirmed our participation at The San Diego Model Railroad Museum this Labor Day Weekend.
