September 20 , 2022 - Meeting Summary

The San Diego S-Gaugers held the September club meeting at our clubhouse. Attendees were: Mike Forys, Ken Sadlock, Robert Graves, Scott Lewis, Dale Minard, Raulf Polichar, Alex Sibbald and Les Smith.

Introduction of new faces / Show and Tell:

Dale Minard displayed a chess piece that he made on his 3D printer. He passed around his S scale ruler. Scott Lewis brought in a one eighth scale coupler.

Treasurer's Report:

The club received visitor donations totaling $437.24 in August which is a record amount for that month. $31.81 of these donations came from our new Venmo Account via QR code.

Standards Report:

The new "Y" turnout on PY2 has been installed and is operational still needing indicator lights.

Dale removed and eliminated pre year 2000 duplicated magazines that were too worn for give away.

Window Layout Success and Visitor Attendance:

From 08/13/2022 to 09/17/2022 the Window Layout Button 1 has been pushed 3,902 times and Window Layout Button 2 has been pushed 1,921 times for a total of 5,823 times, or 238,984 times since Feb 2016 when we first installed one at Grossmont Center and 278,542 times since day one at Liberty station.


New Business:

Covad-19 Update:

After a brief discussion it was agreed that we will discontinue mandating Covid-19 protocols for the time being. Members are encouraged to wear masks if they want to or if visitors prefer to.

Future events:

The next meetings will be on Tuesdays, October 18 2022 and November 22, 2022 and will be held at our clubhouse and on Zoom.

15th club anniversary next January will be celebrated on two Saturday’s. 14th as the NMRA PSR San Diego Region layout tour and the 21st for the general public.

Gilbert Town Transformer:

No progress on troubleshooting the Gilbert Town transformer heat problem. The next thing to do is measure output voltage and check the result. We set the voltage at less than full until the problem is solved.

Club Mural:

The Mural barn door has been framed.

Halloween:

Grossmont Center is hosting its annual Halloween trick or treat candy giveaway on Monday, October 31 from 3 to 5 pm. We will be open on the same day from 2 to 6 pm to support their effort.

Liberty Loop Layout:

The chapel is now sporting a wedding party. Grass and trees have appeared near the Gazebo.

PSR 2022 Convention:

The club members described the clinics that they attended. The problems with the timesaver game coupling were also described. A brief description of the 2023 PSR convention in Flagstaff, AZ and the 2024 national convention in Long Beach, CA was presented.

Other Items:

We will be exchanging the Streeterville window layout with hillside after the meeting.

Next month’s meeting will preview the 2023 calendar.
