January 19, 2021 - Meeting Summary

The San Diego S-Gaugers held the January club meeting on Zoom at 10:00AM. Attendees were: Mike Forys, Ken Sadlock, Raulf Polichar, Robert Graves, Les Smith, Bill Center, Scott Lewis, Al Kiel, Dale Minard, Don Briggs, James Patterson, John Racey and Alex Sibbald.

Introduction of new faces / Show and Tell:

John Racey gave us a video tour of his basement model railroad empire currently under construction.


Treasurer’s Report:

This month Bob Graves sold a model train set that had been donated. He reported a clubhouse electric bill of $63.22 and $100 for NMRA liability insurance for calendar year 2021.

Standards Report:

Raulf Polichar has been busy troubleshooting and repairing engines. He is currently repairing a large American Flyer transformer used on our main layout.

Publicity Report:

Bill Center has volunteered to handle club publicity. Les Smith will help with the transfer of information and responsibilities.

SN3 Addition Status:

Raulf and Mike have repaired the track located at the back of the layout. Ken Sadlock can now complete the scenic repair after Mike Forys clears off the area.

Window Layout Success and Visitor Attendance:

As of 01/1 5/21 the Window Layout Button 1 has been pushed 681 times and Window Layout Button 2 has been pushed 1504 times for a total of 2,185 times since December 4th or 175,815 times since we first installed one at Grossmont Center and 216,147 times since day one.


Future events:

The next meetings will be on Tuesdays, February 16, 2021 and March 16, 2021 and will be held only on Zoom unless San Diego moves to a red tier and removes restrictions.


Clubhouse:

We will be rotating items in the front wall display and adding text explaining and/or describing exhibited items. The club will ask Dale Minard to display some of his train cars for the reopening of the clubhouse.


Work Days:

One or two work days will be scheduled just before we reopen to prepare clubhouse for visitors. Mike Forys will set a date for the first workday and recruit helpers. Reopening of the clubhouse is tentatively set for April.

Liberty Loop window layout:

Mike is looking for someone to create a fall scene on an insert for the Liberty Loop Layout. A blank insert is available for decorating. Dale Minard has volunteered to create the fall scene.

Club Business:

Mike Forys has received the liability policy insurance from the NMRA and passed this information to the Mall management. The club members nominated and voted the current club officers in for another year.
