November 20, 2018 - Meeting Summary
The San Diego S-Gaugers held the November club meeting at our clubhouse (304 on the mall map) in Grossmont Center at 10:00am. Attendees were: Mike Forys, Robert Graves, Raulf Polichar, Les Smith, Don Briggs, Dale Minard, Alex Sibbald, Wes Noel, Ken Sadlock and Jerry Shiller.
Introduction of new faces / Show and Tell:
Jerry Shiller brought in a Popular Mechanics pictorial on the history of locomotion that he framed for viewing on the wall. Dale Minard displayed two Bicycle Card convention cars that he purchased along with a Falstaff refrigerator car. Wes Noel brought in a model of a warehouse that he constructed. Mike Forys featured a Sn3 brass Galloping Goose that he purchased. Robert Graves showed us several S Fest cars that he obtained.
Treasurer’s Report:
Robert Graves reported that we received $241.90 from visitor donations. He reported that we had a monthly electric bill of $127. Robert displayed a list he compiled of donated train items that are for sale. He also added club meeting dates and expanded holiday hours to the website.
Standards Report:
Raulf Polichar repaired an engine for the Sn3 layout and is working on additional illuminated switch direction indicators.
Publicity Report:
Les Smith is working on an article about the Sn3 layout that we obtained.
Old Business:
New Clinics:
No new clinic ideas were suggested.
New Gilbert Town Modules:
Rework on the last module is on hold.
Lift Bridge Module Retrofit.
The module has been working with no problems since retrofit rework.
Window Layout Success and Visitor Attendance:
As of 11/17/2018 the window layout button has been pushed 3,406 times since our last meeting, 115,769 times since we installed it at Grossmont Center and 155,591 times since day one.
New Business:
Future events:
The next meetings will be on Tuesdays, December 18th and January 22 and will be held at our clubhouse (suite 304 on the mall map) in Grossmont Center at 10AM.
Lego Update:
A new Lego window display with a space theme has been installed and the next Lego build day is on December 1st from noon until 4:00pm.
Window Displays:
Raulf Polichar is working on the new engine for the window display. The Halloween ceramic village has been replaced with our ceramic village winter display.
Grossmont Activities:
Halloween was on a Wednesday and our counter reported 1,518 visitors however when the counter encountered groups of visitors it counted the group as 1 person resulting in many visitors not being recorded.
Holiday Schedule:
Mike Forys passed around a proposed calendar covering potential work assignments for the holiday season.
Sn3 Layout:
The donated layout was dismantled and moved to our clubhouse. It arrived in good condition and Dale Minard is constructing a solid base to stabilize it.
2019 Calendar:
Mike Forys presented a 2019 events calendar that the club voted to accept.
Meeting was adjourned at 11:20 AM.
