March 17, 2026 - Meeting Summary
The San Diego S-Gaugers held the March club meeting at our clubhouse. Attendees were: Mike Forys, Dale Minard, Ken Sadlock, Robert Graves, Dave Posladek, Don Briggs, Les Smith, Raulf Polichar, Craig Carlson, Scott Lewis, and Dennis Denk.
Introduction of new faces / Show and Tell:
Mike shared a Thank You note from Blanca Noel. Blanca was married to Wes Noel, a club member whose funeral service was held recently.
Treasurer's Report:
Bob Graves reported that the club received $289.26 in visitor donations, $98.5 less than last month, and $2.81 above the average for February. $113.64 of these donations came from our Venmo account. We had 12 donations from 12 donors this month. We have received a total of $3,421.03 in Venmo donations.
Other income included: $20 in other cash donations, $539.38 worth of donated trains, and $18.46 savings account interest.
Revaluing items for sale based on the latest Greenberg book increased their value by $79.13.
We sold $241.29 worth of donated trains at a profit of $111.79 over the $129.50 at which they were carried in inventory.
To date, we have received $11,995.44 from the sale of donated trains.
Expenses included: no additional expenses this month
This month’s electricity usage was $137.05, $11.30 less than last month and $24.32 less than the average February.
The result for the month is a net gain of $920.97.

Window Button Status:
The window button status was not updated this month. The window button numbers are down due to mall construction blocking access to the window buttons.

Old Business:
Upgrade SDSG Website, Google My Business, and Facebook page:
Some obsolete items were removed.
Left window Liberty Loop layout status:
Currently using the backup locomotive, an RS-3. The primary locomotive, an FP-7, needs some work.
Right window (Peter’s) layout status:
The layout is working well after the storm damage was cleaned up.
Sn3 layout status:
N/A
Front wall display status:
Need new items and text explaining items on display.
Lego Days status:
The next Lego Build Day is April 25th, 2026. The tent will be in front of Bath and Body Works.
Module Repair list, Window Layouts upgrade/repair:
The cleaning/repair on the “S” curve was successful. The track was cleaned, a Dremel tools was used to polish the track, and conductive paint was used to aid making good contact. The trains consistently run through the area without stopping.
Work/Play day Thursday March 19th, 10:00am to 3:00am:
Plenty of work to do from the Repair list.
New Business:
Next meetings, Tuesday’s April 21st and May 19th 2026
Both will be held at the clubhouse and on Zoom.
July 4th 2026. The semi quincentennial train is on display:
The train is up and running and is well liked.
NMRA Regional convention September 9 - 13:
The San Diego S Gaugers agreed to participate. The NMRA has not been notified yet.
Main layout expansion, new module progress:
All roadbed has been laid on round house module.
NMRA layout tour March 14th, 2026 Celebrating 10 years at this location:
Delayed until June.
SDCCE visit request Tuesday March 10 and Thursday March 12th from 10:00am till noon
Over 20 students attended each day. The students were all seniors and were appreciative and enthusiastic about the layout and the presentations. Other classes from the same school may add a visit to our layout. We will look in to passing the word to senior communities. Over $100 dollars was raised from the SDCCE visit.
The question was raised about holding birthday parties. We were not sure if it is legal, what the logistics would be, and can the club get enough people to support.
Lionel Corp sold (merged) with Round 2 Corp.:
The Lionel name will be retained. Do not know yet what will happen to the S gauge American Flyer cars that have been made by Lionel. Round 2 includes other model manufacturers like Johnny Lightning cars.
Other Items:
It was noted that we now have only 3 black cows in the cow corral accessory.
