June 27, 2015 - Meeting Summary
The San Diego S Gaugers held the June club meeting at the home of Mike Forys. Attendees were: Mike Forys, Alex Sibbald, Ken Sadlock, Don Briggs, Raulf Polichar, Wes Noel, Al Kiel, and Bob Graves.
Introduction of new faces / Show and Tell:
During show and tell the following items were introduced:
Mike Forys brought in a photo of a 2-6-0 that he is framing. He also demonstrated the differences between the S-Helper Flex Track and the new MTH Flex Track.
Wes Noel brought in 2 structures that he put together from kits. Obtained on Ebay, one was a Flagstop Depot and the other was a single level house. He also displayed a diesel to which he added fabricated brass rails.
Ken Sadlock demonstrated a wheel /axle tool that he fabricated.
Alex Sibbald brought in a BTS catalog that he received with an order.
Treasurer’s Report:
Bob Graves reported that we received $70 from donations and $3.37 from recycling during May.
Standards Report:
Raulf Polichar sent an example of the turnout pcb he designed to Cliff at BK Enterprises (Trout Engineering) in an attempt to get new turnouts necessary for our expansion. Also our new material for the top surface of our modules has been ordered (Upsonite). Alex Sibbald and Al Kiel have volunteered to help unload material when delivered.

Old Business:
Future Clubhouse Status:
Mike Forys reported that his search for a new clubhouse location is ongoing. He has contacted his representative, Tod Gloria, in his efforts and is awaiting an answer. Mike will attempt to contact the management at Grossmont Center to discuss future space availability.
SDSG Website:
Bob Graves updated the home page to reflect future events. He will remove several dead links.
New Clinics:
Wes has offered to present a ballasting clinic complete with refreshments, time and date tbd.

The July 18th meeting will be held at the home of Bob Graves at 2:00PM.
The August 15th meeting will be held at the home of Les Smith and is tentatively scheduled to also be a summer social. Specifics TBD.
501(c)3 status:
Burdette Streeter offered to help with our 501(c)3 application. He has been helping Mike Forys determine our club classification.
Future Projects:
The club discussed the plan to rework both Powell Yard and the Gilbert Siding modules. Mike Forys says that the new Powell Yard module (PY3.5) is 70% complete. Mike reported that the 3 new Gilbert Yard module frames were constructed before the meeting. The leg brackets arrived today. Also some testing was done to determine maximum grade on reverse corner and yard staging area for a potential future modular project. Preliminary design drawings for a grain elevator modular layout were presented to the club for discussion.
SDMRM Labor Day Visit:
Our next layout display will take place at the San Diego Model Railroad Museum over the Labor Day Weekend. Setup will take place on Thursday 9/03/15 with layout open to visitors on the following Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Teardown will begin after display hours on Monday.
Model Citizens:
Model Citizens DVD is currently in production.
