January 18, 2022 - Meeting Summary


The San Diego S-Gaugers held the January club meeting at our clubhouse and on Zoom. Attendees were: Mike Forys, Ken Sadlock, Robert Graves, Dale Minard, Raulf Polichar, John Racey, Al Kiel, Lenny Carapezza, Scott Lewis and Alex Sibbald.

Introduction of new faces / Show and Tell:

Dale Minard modeled his custom railroad themed jacket with his name embroidered on it and presented a brochure for the company. The website for the company is jelsma.com.

Treasurer's Report:

This month Bob Graves reported $636.19 from clubhouse visitor donations in December, the highest monthly amount in our history. He also explained that the outstanding electric bill we owed to the outgoing management organization was paid.

Standards Report:

Raulf Polichar replaced the AF transformer in the Liberty Loop control panel.

Publicity Report:

Library Report:

Dale Minard gave us a status report on the latest additions to his library database. He has amassed and loaded into his digital database 33 different train related magazines and is only missing a total of 5 issues.

SN3 Addition Status:

Mike has installed plexiglass panels on the front of the display. We will put an engine or two on the display to enhance the view.

Window Layout Success and Visitor Attendance:

From 12/04/2021 to 01/15/2022 the Window Layout Button 1 has been pushed 2,325 times and Window Layout Button 2 has been pushed 2,329 times for a total of 4,654 times or 210,139 times since Feb 2016 when we first installed one at Grossmont Center and 249,697 times since day one.

New Business:

Operating Session:

Mike Forys suggested that if anyone is interested in hosting an operating session to contact him. It would be limited to vaccinated club members.

Future events:

The next meetings will be on Tuesdays, February 22, 2022 and March 22, 2022 and will be held at our clubhouse and on Zoom.

Clubhouse:

Dale Minard upgraded and illuminated a row of Plasticville houses and created a backdrop of business buildings that light up the entire side of the window layout (Liberty Loop). He is currently installing roads and landscaping.

Club Mural:

Mike Forys presented several pictures of train cars that could be models for upgrading our club mural. He will present a scale model to the club after he completes it.

NMRA:

Mike Forys has verified our 100% membership in NM RA and submitted insurance application which was accepted. The insurance has increased by $250 due to mall management requirements. The PSR 2022 Convention is scheduled to be held in Kearney Mesa from September 7th to September 11th. The chapter asked us to bring the timesaver module.

Club Business:

This month, 2022 dues are due and the club held an election for officers. The existing officers were nominated and elected for another year.

Other Items:

Mike Forys is looking for freight station ideas for that empty piece of track to fit in a space approximately 3 to 3 7/8 X 66 inches.
