April 27, 2013 - Meeting Summary

The San Diego S Gaugers held the April club meeting in our clubhouse in Liberty Station. Attendees were: Raulf Polichar, Bob Graves, Dale Minard, Alex Sibbald and Les Smith.

Introduction of new faces:

The club welcomed our newest member, Les Smith who joined us at our engine repair clinic preceding the monthly meeting.

Treasurer’s Report:

Bob Graves reported that we took in $112.85 in clubhouse donations in March. He handed out a corrected statement from February.

Standard’s report:

Raulf Polichar brought in the alignment jig that he constructed to align our modules accurately. We discussed the problem of determining what surface will be used to base level on.

Old Business:

PY2.0:

Dale’s icing station lights need to be wired. There is interference with the icing parking lot and the Big Boy Locomotive. The module still needs a switch control motor.

PY2.5

This module still needs switch control motor and clouds.

Lift bridge module:

The Entry/ Exit module is operational however it needs to be lowered gently, no need to push it down. We need a sign to emphasize this on the inside. The track requires gluing in place after alignment. The task of creating a winery with tasting room on the lift module has begun.

Window Layout:

Our activity counter has recorded a total of 10,442 hits in the 11 months since the counter was installed on May 20, 2012.

Upgrade SDSG Website:

Items that need addressing are reducing the side menu, adding Lands End ordering sheet & Membership application and updating module developments. Bob is working on a plan to allow others to help with this effort.

NASG Dispatch:

Several club articles have been written for the Dispatch and we need to select pictures to accompany them.

Module repair list:

A repair list of existing modules is on the workshop wall. It needs to be prioritized.

High Tech High student volunteers:

Several volunteers have helped us manning our layout in the last month. They have offered to submit drawings to update our sky boards with some actual scenery.

National Train Day 5/11/13

Our application to be a host has been accepted and is already listed on the National Train Day Website.

Mike will check with the Lego folks to see what kind of centerpiece they can come with for this event.

Some work needs to be accomplished before the event such as window & floor cleaning, track cleaning and beaver lake completion.

New Business:

Thank you:

Thanks to Ken Solberg for the donated tools and thanks to Al Keil for the wall sign and scale coke machines.

Future tasks:

A double-sided cross buck sign with flashing lights would be useful to persons looking for our clubhouse and free up the A-frame sign to be located where there is foot traffic. We discussed alternatives of a freestanding sign versus one that hangs on the open door; we need to check restrictions in our lease agreement.

Future events:

The future monthly meetings will be held on May 18, June 29, and July 27, 2013.
