October 18, 2022 - Meeting Summary

The San Diego S-Gaugers held the September club meeting at our clubhouse. Attendees were: Mike Forys, Ken Sadlock, Robert Graves, Scott Lewis, Dale Minard, Raulf Polichar, Tim Lewis, Don Briggs, John Racey, and Les Smith.

Introduction of new faces / Show and Tell:

Ken Sadlock brought in a hand car from 1952 that was given to him. Scott Lewis brought in a new Berkshire steam engine that he bought on sale. John Racy showed us his model of an American, Four, Square house that, he scratch built. He won 1st place in his category at the NASG national convention.

Treasurer's Report:

The club received visitor donations totaling $352.57 in September which is a record amount for that month. $80.84 of these donations came from our Venmo Account.

Standards Report:

AC main line not working in the Powell yard. Will fix today.

Publicity Report:

Library Report:

AF Greenburg guide has been added to the library. Dale is looking for model train catalogs to scan.

Window Layout Success and Visitor Attendance:

From 08/13/2022 to 09/17/2022 the Window Layout Button 1 has been pushed 2,254 times and Window Layout Button 2 has been pushed 1,539 times for a total of 3,793times, or 242,777 times since Feb 2016 when we first installed one at Grossmont Center and 282,335 times since day one at Liberty station.

New Business:

Covad-19 Update:

After a brief discussion it was agreed that we will discontinue mandating Covid-19 protocols for the time being. Members were encouraged to get a flu shot.

Future events:

The next meetings will be on Tuesdays, November 22, 2022 and December 20, 2022 and will be held at our clubhouse and on Zoom.

15th club anniversary next January will be celebrated on two Saturday’s. 14th as the NMRA PSR San Diego Region layout tour and the 21st for the general public. Need ideas for activities on the 21st.

Gilbert Town Transformer:

Bob will fix today. As of this writing the heat problem was solved by disconnecting the voltmeters.

Club Mural:

The Mural barn door has been framed and needs additional blocking to support barn door hangers.

Halloween:

Grossmont Center is hosting its annual Halloween trick or treat candy giveaway on Monday, October 31 from 3 to 5 pm. We will be open on the same day from 2 to 6 pm to support their effort.

Liberty Loop Layout:

A new Halloween insert has been added. Window edge upgraded by adding grass, bushes and trees.

Next month’s meeting: Vote on 2023 Calendar. Verify NMRA member status.
