April 16, 2019 - Meeting Summary

The San Diego S-Gaugers held the April club meeting at our clubhouse (304 on the mall map) in Grossmont Center at 10:00am. Attendees were: Mike Forys, Robert Graves, Raulf Polichar, Don Briggs, Alex Sibbald, Wes Noel, Ken Sadlock, and Les Smith.

Introduction of new faces / Show and Tell:

Dale Minard has created a new centerpiece pop out for our Liberty Loop window display. It portrays a baseball game between the Padres and the Cubs. It has been put in place and looks great. Ken Sadlock displayed a set of A.F. switches that he picked up at the ATTGA swap meet. Les Smith brought in a wall mount train display.

Treasurer’s Report:

Robert Graves reported that we received $347.94 from visitor donations. He reported that we had a monthly electric bill of $108.42. The club received a generous donation from one of our members, Jim Patterson.

Standards Report:

Raulf Polichar displayed photos of the multi-gauge test track that he is assembling. The test rack will support the testing of S, SN3, O, HO and N gauge trains. It will be used by the club to test our trains and visitors' trains. Raulf is planning to remote the sync button which acts as a reset for the window display, necessary under certain conditions.

New Clinics:

No new clinic ideas were suggested.

Streeterville:

The Streeterville layout will be returned to the window after Easter. We need 6 members to move

it into place. We will do this on Thursday April 25 at 10:00 am as part of our work day.

SN3 Addition Status:

The SN3 layout has been moving ahead with the rebuilding of the missing section on the left side. Mike Forys has been recreating the scenery that had been lost before we took possession of the layout. Raulf Polichar has been gathering parts for the sound and control systems.

Window Layout Success and Visitor Attendance:

As of 03/16/2019 the window layout button has been pushed 3,026 times since our last meeting, 127,506 times since we installed it at Grossmont Center and 166,988 times since day one.

New Business:

Future events:

The next meetings will be on Tuesdays, May 21st and June 18th and will be held at our clubhouse (suite 304 on the mall map) in Grossmont Center at 10AM.


Grossmont Center / Shop Local Saturday:

The Shop Local Saturday was held on March 30th and we participated by setting up the Timesaver Layout in the promenade under a canopy. The public was given the chance to tryout the timesaver challenge. The clubhouse was open at 10 AM to support this event. The next shop local Saturday on April 27th we will sponsor a LEGO build event from 10:00 am to 4:00pm.


Window Displays:

The Easter Display will grace the window until the week after Easter. On Saturday before Easter Grossmont Center will be conducting an Easter Egg Hunt from 10:30AM until 12:30PM. The center will be supplying plastic eggs containing candy for the stores to pass out. The club will be participating and will open early to support this event.

Inventory:

The club needs to inventory the generous donations of trains and electronics to document items for sale. The club has decided to rent 4 tables at the AGTTA swap meet on the Saturday before Fathers' Day to sell the donations.

S Fest West:

The club decided not to participate this year due to scheduling conflicts.
