November 19, 2019 - Meeting Summary

The San Diego S-Gaugers held the November club meeting at our clubhouse (304 on the mall map) in Grossmont Center at 10:00am. Attendees were: Mike Forys, Robert Graves, Wes Noel, Ken Sadlock, Alex Sibbald, Don Briggs, Raulf Polichar and Les Smith.

Introduction of new faces / Show and Tell:

Wes Noel described the Golden Spike Centennial Celebration at the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum in Campo on Saturday Nov 16th. He presented a movie of his train ride with the other NMRA members.

Treasurer’s Report:

Robert Graves reported that we received $325.18 from visitor donations in October. He reported that we had a monthly electric bill of $153.25.

Standards Report:

Raulf Polichar reported that he has finished both dual gauge turnouts.

Publicity Report:

Les Smith suggested that we conduct model railroad clinics for the general public. He volunteered to publicize them.

SN3 Addition Status:

The Sn3 layout power to the right side is all hooked up. Currently trouble shooting some high impedance shorts. Layout is ready for hand laying/repairing trackage.

Window Layout Success and Visitor Attendance:

As of 11/16/2019 the Window Layout Button 1 has been pushed 2,448 times and Window Layout Button 2 has been pushed 1,349 times for a total of 3,797 times since our last meeting, 149,944 times since we first installed one at Grossmont Center and 189,326 times since day one.

Future events:

The next meetings will be on Tuesdays, Dec 17th and Jan 21 and will be held at our clubhouse (suite 304 on the mall map) in Grossmont Center at 10AM. The NMRA tour has been moved from January to March 14th.

Preliminary 2020 Calendar:

Mike Forys submitted the 2020 Calendar and the members voted to accept it.

Holiday hours:

Mike Forys proposed that we open on Black Friday November 29th and Sundays December 1,8,15 and 22. We will be closed Tuesdays Dec 24 and 31.

Work Day:

The club will have a work day on Dec 5th at 10:00AM.

Fire Department Inspection Status:

Fire Department Inspection has not happened yet.

Corner Display Table:

The corner display is completed. Currently we are displaying an American Flyer Engine from 1933 and an Erector Set Parachute Ride from the 1940's.

NMRA Layout Insurance:

The club discussed the possibility of obtaining a blanket layout and equipment insurance policy. Mike Forys and Bob Graves will gather pertinent information concerning costs and coverage and report back to the club.

Miscellaneous

The O Gauge Model Train Display in old town is not closing as previously announced. Hours of operation have not changed.
