The San Diego S-Gaugers held the September club meeting at the clubhouse in Grossmont Center at 10:00AM. Attendees were: Mike Forys, Ken Sadlock, Raulf Polichar, Robert Graves, Wes Noel, Les Smith and Bill Center.

Introduction of new faces / Show and Tell:

Mike told everyone to check out the station module and see the upgraded station and the new pedestrian bridge. He also passed around a set of tiny drill bits he bought at Harbor Freight online and some new figures for the winter snow scene from Catzpaw. Wes Noel brought in a building facade for placement on the layout. Bob showed off Lionel’s Christmas GP 20 that was donated to the club by Al Keil.

Bill Center was introduced to club members as this was the first meeting he attended.

Treasurer’s Report:

Very little financial activity due to being closed. The exception was the purchase of a new DCC controller that Raulf has at home to test and program.

Standards Report:

Raulf showed off the completed Grossmont Central Passenger Train beautifully painted and explained why the engine was operating badly due to a bad motor which was replaced by American Models.

Publicity Report:

Bill Center volunteered to help with publicity. Les Smith and Bill will get together to map out future ads and reopening messages.

As of 09/18/2020 the Window Layout Button 1 has been pushed 1081 times and Window Layout Button 2 has been pushed 914 times for a total of 1,995 times since August 15th. 169,053 times since we first installed one at Grossmont Center and 209,380 times since day one.

Future events:

The next meetings will be on Tuesdays, October 20th and November 17th and will be held on Zoom unless shopping center status changes. There is a possibility that the meeting will be held at Grossmont Center with other attendees using zoom.

Mike Forys passed out a proposed calendar for 2021. It will be discussed and voted on at the next meeting.

Clubhouse:

The clubhouse is available to members for work or to run trains. Notify Mike Forys and he will reserve the timeslot for you and he will notify other members via email. Two coffee makers have been donated to the club. So when we reopen those of you who want to make coffee are welcome to brew some and clean up at the end of the day. A second vacuum cleaner has also been donated to the club.

Work Days:

A work day will be scheduled just before we reopen.

Liberty Loop window layout:

Mike is looking for someone to create a fall scene on an insert for the Liberty Loop Layout. A blank insert is available for decorating.

Opening Clubhouse:

Mike Forys reported that our air conditioning guy said our system does have an outside air source on the roof and that upgraded filters were super expensive. It would be better to use the filters we are using now but replace them more frequently.

Miscellaneous:

Mike Forys reminded everyone to get their flu shots. Several members already have it.

Two boxes of MTH track will be purchased to offset any future needs since Mike Wolf is retiring and the future of the company is unknown. Bill Center volunteered to pay for the track.

Meeting was adjourned at 11:10 AM.
