April 19, 2022 - Meeting Summary
The San Diego S-Gaugers held the March club meeting at our clubhouse and on Zoom. Attendees were: Mike Forys, Ken Sadlock, Robert Graves, Dale Minard, Wes Noel, Raulf Polichar, John Racey, Scott Lewis, Don Briggs, Les Smith and Alex Sibbald.
Introduction of new faces / Show and Tell:
John Racey reported that he has completed the main line on his layout and showed a NY Central F7 diesel set he will be converting to dead rail. Mike Forys displayed an inexpensive cutting board that he purchased. Dale Minard showed the club a free item box that he constructed to allow the club to give away donated or decommissioned items that we cannot use.
Treasurer's Report:
This month Bob Graves reported $289.79 from clubhouse visitor donations in March. He also explained that the electric bill we owed this month is lower again.
Standards Report:
Raulf reported that he is working on the Timesaver engines in preparation for the NMRA convention in September.
Publicity Report:
Les Smith reported that he is working on two new timeline train cars.

Mike has installed several engines on the display to enhance the scenery.
Window Layout Success and Visitor Attendance:
From 03/19/2022 to 04/16/2022 the Window Layout Button 1 has been pushed 1,182 times and Window Layout Button 2 has been pushed 1,594 times for a total of 2,776 times or 218,660 times since Feb 2016 when we first installed one at Grossmont Center and 258,218 times since day one.
New Business:
Covad-19 Update:
After a brief discussion it was agreed that we will discontinue Covid-19 protocols for the time being.
Future events:
The next meetings will be on Tuesdays, May 17th 2022 and June 21, 2022 and will be held at our clubhouse and on Zoom.
Grossmont Mall:
The Mall had an Easter Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, Apr 15th. We over 700 visitors enter our clubhouse. We have set a date of April 30th for our next Lego Day from noon until 4PM.
Clubhouse:
Liberty Loop Window Display received upgrades this month. Dale Minard installed a barbershop. After the meeting, Club members replaced the Easter Window Layout with our 1950's themed Streeterville Layout.
Club Mural:
Mike Forys presented a detailed picture of a refrigerator train car that could be a model for upgrading our club mural.
NMRA:
The PSR 2022 Convention is scheduled to be held in Kearney Mesa from September 7th to September 11th. The chapter asked us to bring the timesaver module and we also plan to bring our test track assembly and provide a free engine test for attendees.
Club Layout:
Raulf Polichar led a team who worked to solve a continuing derailing situation on the DCC side of the yard on PY5. We will not be demonstrating track switching or lift bridge operation to the visitors due to danger of unnecessary wear and tear.
Visitor Donations:
Scott Lewis suggested that we setup a QR (Quick Response) code to allow visitors to make donations using their smartphones to scan the code. It would require setting up an account for the club and linkage to the code.
Other Items:
Mike Forys displayed a footprint he developed for a freight station, which will be placed on the PY1/C4 extension. A single stall engine house was suggested to be placed on the adjacent siding.
